Experience of a Lifetime - My husband and I selected this tour to see the Andes mountains. The tour guide Esteban was very professional, personable and knowledgeable and customized the tours according to our needs and ability. He provided us independent time to be alone and always provided us water to be hydrated sufficiently. The tour to the Andes was breathtaking and the highlight of our vacation. Esteban suggested to see the waterfalls as well as visit the hot springs. We enjoyed the drive very much. The little town of San Jose del Maipo was beautiful. Then we stopped at the area of the waterfall and hiked to the waterfall. It was breathtaking. We had a little picnic with snacks there and enjoyed the beautiful and refreshing waterfall and the Andes. After we returned to the car, we drove past the gypsum mines to the hot springs. We enjoyed the hot springs very much. We felt it was a miracle to be in the hot springs surrounded by the beautiful mountains. It was a wonderful experience. Esteban was always very patient and helpful as well as always explained details about the areas. The driver Filipe was wonderful as well. We appreciated the driver Filipe for always driving safely for example when the light turned yellow he would stop at the intersection instead of rushing through the yellow light. He always drove within the speed limit. He also contributed to providing valuable information. The tour concluded with a nice Chilean meal in a small town at a beautiful quaint restaurant where we enjoyed delicious empanadas and the baked corn dish. Thank you for a wonderful day!

Besides enjoying scenery, we learned a lot from a very knowledgeable tour guide. - We of course enjoyed the spectacular scenery of the rugged, snow covered mountains and the flat, green valleys, but what made the trek particularly enjoyable was our guide, Esteban, who had extensive knowledge of the geology and the wildlife, as well as the history of the region. He spent most of the time talking, either answering our questions or just explaining the things we were seeing. It was like a National Geographic tour. And although, sadly, the air was still and therefore we did not see any condors, we were very happy with the trek.

Great way to get a sense of the Andes - Esteban was an excellent guide who loves the Andes and has spent much time hiking in the area. We were not the fastest hikers but we never felt rushed. We got to see the beautiful Valle de La Engorda and experience the deep quiet of the mountains. The drive from Santiago was very interesting and comfortable. If you have a day in Santiago and want to get a taste of what it's like to hike in the Andes I highly recommend this tour.
