  • Rano Raraku - This is the only volcanic cone tuff quarry existing on the island. This material allowed the construction of the moai on a larger scale. Rano Raraku houses the quarry where the moai were built and from where they were moved to the ahu (ceremonial platforms) in the island.
  • Ahu Tongariki - Located opposite to Rano Raraku this is the largest platform from all of the reconstructed on the island. The ahu Tongariki is the most imposing moai platform in the island. This altar has fifteen visible standing statues overlooking the island with their backs to the Pacific Ocean.
  • Anakena Beach - This beach is characterized by warm turquoise waters and coral sand. It is the main beach of the island and used to be the ancestral residence of the Miru Araki royal family. The ahu Nau Nau is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished Ahu of the island because of the refinement of its moai.
  • Rano Kau - Located in the southwest side of the island the crater of this volcano is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes of Rapa Nui. With 1.5 Km large this crater is the biggest reserve of endemic flora of Rapa Nui and it lake served as an important source of drinking water
  • Orongo - O’rongo village is located on one side of the Rano Kau volcano crater. Its spectacular scenic location, its archaeological and historic relevance, the diversity and complexity of the site, make Orongo village one of the most important attractions of the island. It’s one of the two main sites on the island as in this place was celebrated the Birdman ceremony. It also has a visitor reception center with a permanent interpretive exhibition.
  • Ahu Akivi - One of the very few ceremonial platforms not located by the sea. Its seven moais have been restored to their standing position by the archaeologists William Mulloy and Gonzalo Figueroa along with the Rapa Nui community. Kava Kava tours - Amazing. Christina, our guide for our one personal tour, is brilliant! We listened as she told us of the Rapa Nui history. She helped us obtain the best photo angles and lighting. We enjoyed lunch at a cafe with a view of the quarry. This was the best historical tour I’ve ever experienced. 5 stars!

Informative, well-paced island tour! - Had a great and informative island tour with expert guide Cristina, whose personal ties to the island's history made the experience even more remarkable. She was able to answer all my questions, and paced the day's activities in a thoughtful manner. The entire day was well-organized, communication was clear from booking through trip completion, and the ride around the island was comfortable as well.

Rapa Nui - An Ancient World Brought to Life - Sebastián Paoa Á. is a consummate storyteller, historian, and guide. His passion and deep love for Rapa Nui is heartfelt and earnest. My friend Barbara McCrary and I were thoroughly entertained and educated by the breadth and depth of his knowledge. He always wanted to go deeper than a shallow explanation. The history and mystery surrounding the moai were fascinating--especially the possible ways the moai were moved. The Birdman competition is unique, a captivating tale. The National Park is a national treasure and should be funded properly with an administrator focused solely on the proper maintenance and care of it. Rapa Nui has a rich history which is deftly described by Sebastián. The volcanic crater and the beach were spectacular sights to visit. Sebastián not only provided detailed descriptions of all the attractions, but also knew exactly where to pose us with the moai statues for a once-in-a-lifetime photo. And the tuna steak lunch was delicious. My friend Barbara does not like fish, and she loved it! Plus, I left my portable phone charger in Sebastián's car, and he called me twice the next morning before personally delivering it to my hotel. He is the best!!! This tour was definitely worth the price. You will NOT be disappointed.

Learned the history, saw the sites, and it was a blast! - Hugo was the best. Showed us all the sites, gave us lots of time to look around and enjoy it, and he was super knowledgeable about the history of the island. If we were to come back again, we’d definitely book this tour once more, or at the very least stop in and have a drink with Hugo.

A must do tour - My guide for this was Yoyo, a local who grew up on the island. I booked this tour after reading the reviews and my experience was fantastic. My guide showed up within a few minutes of my scheduled start time. He showed me on a map in the hotel lobby where we would go and what we would be seeing. We were off in his car and on our way. Yoyo was able to share great insight, describing how the island has grown and changed in his lifetime. He definitely knows the history of the island, and the history lives within him. It was quite windy on the day of the tour. I recommend bringing a windbreaker, bug spray, and your sunglasses. There was plenty of room for a small backpack and you can leave some items in the car. I felt totally safe leaving my belongings in the car when we went off to the different sites. Yoyo knows all the great spots to grab a photo and was always willing to take one if asked. I highly recommend this tour company and Yoyo in particular. This full day tour (with lunch) was a great overview. One thing I want to do next time is hike the north face of the island, it's about a 5 hour hike and was not part of the tour. I'll come back to Easter Island and Kava Kava Tours.
