- Port of Valparaíso - The most reliable information on the port history of Valparaíso dates from 1810, years in which the city was made up of two villages (Almendral and El Puerto) separated by the Cape. In the vicinity of the Cape, a wealthy merchant had built a dock called “Villaurrutia”, in front of the Cueva del Chivato where today the building of the newspaper “El Mercurio de Valparaíso” is located.

Its name is in honor of its second owner, the Croatian businessman Pascual Baburizza, who acquired the mansion in 1925.
