Boat trip - Mike was a great captain with a lot of knowledge about the island and the ponies. He even adjusted the schedule due to inclement weather. We ended up with a private tour, and saw lots of dolphins, in addition to ponies! Tritoon boat was very clean and new.

Ponies, Sunset & One Outstanding Tour Host - Tour Operator Mike was FABULOUS! He went off his normal route so that our group could get a glimpse of the ponies and it worked! Mike provided us with excellent insights throughout the tour on the history and development of the Chesapeake Bay. Ours was the 6pm Sunset Tour and it was lovely. We highly recommend this tour.

Knowledgeable Captain and lovely cruise experience! - Captain Mike was a great guide. He actually called the morning of the t cruise to let me know some ponies had been unexpectedly rounded up the morning of the trip so he would understand if I wanted to cancel and he offered to refund my fare since he wasn’t sure if we would see any ponies. I still decided to go because it’s a beautiful area and wanted to see it from the water. He had a lot of knowledge as he’s lived in the area his entire life and is a “pony geek.” Was great picking his brain and hearing his stories as we cruised the island, and he did track down a group of ponies! I really recommend this tour company as I don’t think you would ever be disappointed by Captain Mike. He’s also very prepared with blankets for his customers as it does get chilly on the water even in the summer. Very thoughtful touch. Great captain and lovely cruise. Definitely recommend!

Excellent experience!! - Excellent experience! Beautiful boat, our captain was born and raised on the island. He was able to answer everyone’s questions and was very knowledgeable!! This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! I highly recommend this tour, you will not be disappointed.

A great tour - A fantastic experience! Capt. Mike was a great guide. He really knows the poneys on a personal level. Toured the entire island during our tour in a very comfortable boat.

We Could’ve Watched & Listened All Day! - Captain Mike was informative and fun! He was conscientious and totally committed to finding as much wildlife for us as he could; we were even able to sit and watch two competing stallions interact as their herds neared one another. The history of these horses is heartwarming and interesting, with Mike being able to tell us stories about many of the individual ponies. He’s even a part owner of several of them! Mike’s boat is extremely quiet, comfortable, easy to board and able to go into very shallow waters, increasing our ability to view the ponies. Mike insured our comfort and safety throughout this high-value trip. We could have looked and listened all day long!!

Great Tours! - We went with up the bay pony tours last September after finding it thru Trip Advisor. It’s not that much more expensive to book a private tour thru Mike so it was well worth it. His boat is super nice and so is Mike. We really enjoyed our first tour even though we didn’t get to see ponies up close. We did see birds and dolphins. It was a great experience and he let our kids drive the boat which they loved. We booked another trip this August and again really enjoyed it. We did get lucky and saw a number of ponies pretty close as well as bald eagles. A very enjoyable way to see and learn about Chincoteague and Assateague.

Knowledgeable Guide! - Our pony and wildlife tour with Mike was exactly what I hoped for! Mike took us directly to the sites where the ponies were grazing that morning. He had good communications with other boats and kept them updated with what he was seeing, as well. The boat itself was very clean and comfortable and the other passengers were very friendly, so we all had a great time.

Superb tour - The best tour ever saw so many wild horses and their goals!! Learned so much about the pony swim … saw egrets and a school of dolphins.. so for want a great tour and guide go with up the bay pony tours you will have a great time!!
