Cannot recommend more highly! - My family of 4 did a 5 hour hike with Delvonnia and this was one of the best tour experiences we've ever had. Delvonnia was incredibly knowledgeable and shared with us about her childhood in the canyon, stories about her family, information about plants and the Navajo language and culture. The weather was pleasant during late December, and we felt it was a good time to visit, without as many tourists as peak season. This was an invaluable experience, learning about the Navajo way of life and broadening our understanding of this vast nation. Truly, more than we'd hoped for.

Amazing experience! - Irene was amazing!!! She was able to share so much information about the history of the canyon and her personal experiences growing up in the canyon! She spoke Navajo to us and was enjoyable to talk to! When you go, be sure to book with this company.

A must-do to make the visit memorable! - We took this tour on Christmas Day and will remember it for the rest of our lives for multiple reasons. Our family of four, which included 10-year-old twins, was just amazed at the ingenuity, persistence, and history of the native Americans. Our tour guide, Rejinald Etsitty, picked us up at Holiday Inn. He was right on time, but we were not ready. He was patient and made a point to give us extra time to make up for it. During the tour, he shared the stories that have been shared over generations, pointed out pictographs, told us about the land and how it has changed, and more. His knowledge, humility, and ability to connect different subjects made this trip memorable. He played tunes on his flute and made a point to do enjoyable activities for the children. He was patient, and we did not feel rushed, even though our tour took an additional half an hour. I highly recommend visiting this canyon and making a point to learn about it.

Great Guide - The canyon is amazing, our guide did a great job, but we had a very bad experience meeting the guide. The Viator app said to meet at the Thunderbird Lodge, and we were there at the appointed time, but the lodge clerks told us the local trip companies were never allowed to meet their clients at the lodge. We were sent by them to an empty parking lot, and then we went tot he visitor center to ask if they could tell us where to go.... 20 minutes later we eventuarly met our guide. she was kind enough to give us the full time on the tour, but we were pretty stressed out by then. Viator should have provided accurate instructions.

Fantastic Experience - My husband and I took a three hour jeep tour of the canyon which we will always remember. Our tour guide Irene had actually grown up living in the canyon and was able to share with us many insights into the Dine culture and language, and the history of the canyon. She was extremely knowledgeable, recognized everyone we ran into from a distance, and also is simply a wonderful person to spend the afternoon with. We could feel her spirit and understand the pain and challenges many native Americans have had to endure but also the immense richness of their culture. She also was an excellent driver in the deep sand. And having seen the canyon from the bottom and the top, we realize that only driving on the rim would give you a very incomplete picture of Canyon de Chelly. The only warning I have for future guests is to take Dramamine before if you easily get carsick because the car literally swims in the sand most of the time!

Highlight of our trip! - Percey was our guide 11/11/24 and OMG patient knowledgeable about the canyon dwelling, petroglyphs town and trails...like he lived it (he did). This tour was a huge highlight of our trip. Can't say enough...$8.00 entrance fee not included in tour and cash only...Percey had to drive us to an ATM and soooo patient!!! Don't get away before he sings some traditional songs.

Awesome Trip in Canyon de Chelly - We have wanted to see Canyon de Chelly for years, living only a couple hours away. We started out just driving the road tour, but decided to get into the valley. Arica was our tour guide and she was beyond awesome as a driver, educator, and story teller. We had the 3 hour public tour which Arica took to the max. Thank you for an unforgettable day.

Canyon De Chelly - Did a 3 hour private tour of Canyon de Chelly with William...who was amazing! He stayed away from the other tour operators and showed us locations and artifacts not on the general tour. William also played his flute for us in the Canyon (which was cool with the echo) and showed our son how to throw an Atlatl...a spear throwing lever. When other tour operators saw William, they would come over to have their groups listen to his flute playing and/or Atlatl throwing...clearly riding on his coat tails! If you can, request William...as he's super great.

Disappointing - We wanted to go to the canyon, which we had already seen from the canyon edge. However, the ride was not really worth it. You don't get close to the ruins and the information is also not intoxicating. The private tour is totally overpriced at more than 300 euros. Sorry, we wouldn't book it again.
