Setting Sail from Chiquilá

The sun was just beginning to rise as I arrived in Chiquilá, the gateway to a day of island-hopping adventure. The air was filled with the salty scent of the sea, and the anticipation of exploring the islands of Holbox, Isla Pasión, and Punta Mosquito was palpable. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today promised to be a thrilling ride.

Boarding the boat, I was greeted with a refreshing drink, a perfect start to the journey. The boat cut through the turquoise waters, leaving a trail of frothy waves behind. The gentle rocking of the boat was a familiar rhythm, reminiscent of the waves I used to ride competitively. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing stories of the islands and their unique ecosystems.

After a delicious lunch on Holbox Island, with options ranging from fresh fish to vegetarian delights, I had some free time to explore the island further. The laid-back vibe of Holbox was infectious, and I found myself wishing I could stay longer.

As the day came to an end, and we made our way back to Chiquilá, I reflected on the day’s adventures.
