Highlights
  • Chittorgarh Fort - Morning pick up from Udaipur hotel / pick-up point and drive to Chittorgarh for a day tour.

The fort complex comprises 65 historic structures, among them 4 palace complexes, 19 main temples, 4 memorials, and 20 functional water bodies. Of these, Rana Kumbha Palace and Padmini’s Palace are the wonders of Rajput architecture. Fateh Prakash Palace is a magnificent double-story palace that was built by Maharaja Fateh Singh. This palace is a grand specimen of modern Indian architecture and, at present, houses a museum.

  • Tower of Fame (Kirti Stambh) - Kirti Stambh
One of Chittorgarh’s beautiful tourist attractions is the Kirti Stambh. This tower from the 12th century is located inside the sizable Chittorgarh Fort and serves as a memorial to Adinath Ji, the first Jain Tirthankar.

The Digambars’ nude figures that adorn it serve as a full reflection of their cultural values. One of the nicest locations to visit in Chittorgarh is the tower, which has seven stories and a stairway that is both narrow and steep that ascends to the top, from which views of the area around Chittorgarh may be enjoyed.

  • Vijay Stambha - Vijay Stambh

The magnificent Vijay Stambh was built by Mewar king Maharana Kumbha in 1448 AD to commemorate his victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Vijay Stambh is a 9-story tower with a height of 37.19 m. Made with red sandstone and white marble, this tower has a balcony on each story. An inscription in the uppermost storey giving a detailed chronological account of the lives and achievements of the rulers of Chittaur was taken up by Rana Kumbha’s court scholar Atri and was later completed by his son Mahesh.
Vijay Stambh, built in Rajput style, is covered with architectural ornaments, images of gods and goddesses, seasons, musical instruments, and weapons. Intricate sculptures can be seen on the tower depicting the stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The tower is a remarkable example of the religious pluralism practiced by the Rajputs.
We will have lunch at a local restaurant. (optional)

  • Kalika Mata Temple - The Fort also comprises several Hindu temples, including Samadhiswara Temple, Kalika Mata Temple, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, Meerabai Temple, and Kumbha Shyam Temple. Built by Raja Manbhanga in the 8th century AD, Kalika Mata Temple was originally dedicated to Surya, which is evident from the image of Surya carved in the centre of the doorjamb of the sanctum. It consists of a garbhagriha, antarala, a closed mandapa, and a porch. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Samadhiswara Temple was built by Bhoja Parmar in the early 11th century AD and was renovated by Mokal in 1428 AD. The hillfort also contains Jain temples, such as Sattaees Devari, Shringar Chauri, and Sat Bis Devari.
