- Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine - Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine established in the 12th century by Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate. Dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war and patron of the samurai, it is one of Kamakura’s most significant shrines and a symbol of Japanese heritage. The shrine’s expansive grounds feature many sites designated as National Historic Sites. Visitors can admire the architecture, gardens, and statues, purchase lucky charms, or make a wish at the shrine. The shrine is particularly famous for its cherry blossoms and maple trees, drawing many visitors during spring and autumn. It has also been awarded one star in the Michelin Tourist Guide.
