The Ascent Begins: Chogoria to Mount Meru Bandas

The adventure kicked off with a thrilling drive from Nairobi to Chogoria, where the anticipation was palpable. My fiancée and I, both seasoned adventurers, were eager to tackle the renowned Mount Kenya. After a hearty lunch in Chogoria, we hopped into a rugged 4x4WD vehicle, which took us to the forest clearance. The real journey began here, as we embarked on a 16km trek through the dense forest. The path was a mix of dirt and mud, challenging our endurance and testing our resolve. The air was crisp, and the sounds of the forest enveloped us, creating a symphony of nature that fueled our excitement.

Reaching Mount Meru Bandas at 2950m was a triumph in itself. The sense of accomplishment was invigorating, and as we settled in for the night, the camaraderie among fellow climbers was infectious.
