- Great Pyramid of Cholula - This is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the country. The main pyramid boasts the largest base in the world, measuring 400 meters on each side, surpassing the Sun Pyramid at Teotihuacan and the Cheops in Egypt.
Its name, Tlachihualtepetl, translates to “handmade hill,” and atop it stands the Shrine of Our Lady of the Remedies, constructed by the Spaniards in 1594.
The dome is adorned with talavera, and inside, visitors can admire a neoclassical altar and the Virgin, whose devotion led to the belief that she appeared to the Spaniards on the “sad night.”
Archaeologists have excavated approximately 8 km of tunnels within the structure, showcasing its various phases, which can be explored today.
Among the treasures of this site are two pre-Hispanic murals: the mural of the drinkers and the mural of the grasshoppers.
The Great Pyramid is dedicated to the god Chiconquiahuitl (of rain), who was revered by the Olmeca-Xicalanca culture until 1300 AD.

The municipality shares borders with Tanguismanalco to the north, Santa Isabel Cholula and Ocoyucan to the northeast, Tepeojuma to the southeast, San Diego la Meza Tochimiltzingo to the east, the City of Puebla, and Tochimilco to the west.
