- Canterbury Plains - Leaving Christchurch, we journey through the impressive Canterbury Plains, showcasing plenty of New Zealand’s stunning farmland and countryside.
- Lake Tekapo - After passing through Geraldine, we head towards the renowned blue waters of Lake Tekapo, navigating some remarkable alpine passes with breathtaking views. As we crest the hill to Tekapo, you’ll be amazed by the stunning view of the lake.
- The Church of the Good Shepherd - In the township of Tekapo, you’ll have time to explore the popular Church of the Good Shepherd, see the Mackenzie Sheepdog, and capture Instagram-worthy shots of Lake Tekapo before we continue to Mt Cook.
- Lake Pukaki - Turning west, we enter Aoraki National Park, where Lake Pukaki begins to appear before us. This lake is one of the bluest you’ll ever see, beautifully framed by Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Southern Alps. We’ll stop for some incredible photos and to marvel at the sight. It’s easy to see why many scenes from Lord of the Rings were filmed nearby, and we’ll point them out to you.
- Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (Te Wahipounamu) - In the national park, you’ll have 2.5 hours of free time to enjoy walks/hikes or optional activities. Our recommendations include: Kea Point Track, Blue Lakes, Tasman Glacier Walk, or scenic flights (see the region from the air and land on the Tasman Glacier) or visit the Mt Cook Visitor Centre & Hermitage Hotel. Whatever you choose, we’ll pick you up and drop you off where needed and ensure you’re well taken care of.
- Lake Pukaki - We head back through the beautiful Mt Cook highway towards the ever-changing glacier-fed lake.
- High Country Salmon - Leaving Aoraki/Mt Cook Village and heading back to Queenstown, we stop at High Country Salmon, a local salmon farm where you can feed the fish and taste some of the freshest salmon in New Zealand.
- Lindis Pass - As we climb in altitude, Lindis Pass offers amazing views down through the valleys. It’s one of only three alpine roads through the otherwise impassable Southern Alps.
- Jackson Orchards - During the summer months, when the sun is still up as we approach Queenstown, we often stop at Jacksons Orchard to try or buy some delicious local fruit or real fruit ice cream.
- Kawarau Suspension Bridge - Nearing Queenstown, we pass through the stunning Kawarau Gorge, with its beautiful views, the Kawarau Suspension Bridge, and the famous Roaring Meg Lookout.
- Queenstown - Sadly, the tour concludes as we arrive in Queenstown and say our goodbyes.
