Embracing Nature’s Majesty at Seoraksan National Park
As the sun rises over Chuncheon-si, the clear skies beckon you to embark on a journey to one of South Korea’s most revered natural wonders, Seoraksan National Park. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is a sanctuary of biodiversity and cultural heritage, offering a perfect blend of nature and history. On December 14th, with the weather promising clear skies and gentle breezes, it’s an ideal day to explore the park’s majestic landscapes.
Begin your adventure early in the morning, as the park opens its gates at 7:00 AM. The crisp morning air and the gentle warmth of the sun create a serene atmosphere as you wander through the picturesque valleys. The historic Sinheoungsa Buddhist Temple, nestled within the park, offers a glimpse into Korea’s spiritual past. As you stroll through the temple grounds, the tranquility of the surroundings invites you to reflect and find peace.
For those seeking a bit more adventure, the cable car ride to the summit provides breathtaking views of the Taebaek mountain range. The panoramic vistas from the top are nothing short of awe-inspiring, with the Daechongbong Peak standing tall as a testament to nature’s grandeur. As you descend, consider visiting the nearby Dongmyeong Port in Sokcho city, where the lighthouse offers stunning views of both the sea and the mountains. Seoraksan Adventure
“Seoraksan trip during end of October 2024 - Benny was a great guide, he picked us up from our hotel at 7:30am and we had a 20min break at the service station before arriving at Seoraksan National Park. It did take over 3 hours due to traffic, but it was a comfortable journey. We went to see the nearby buddhist temple, then had bibimbap for lunch before going on the cable car. Afterwards, we headed into Sokcho and visited the fish market which my mum loved. Lastly we climbed some stairs to an observation deck and finished with a sunset view at a pavilion. Benny dropped us off to our accommodation at Sokcho. A very long day and all slowly paced for my mum which I appreciated. Thank you!” - Reviewed at 2024-10-30
A Day of Cultural Exploration on Nami Island
On December 15th, as the sun casts its golden glow over Chuncheon-si, it’s time to delve into the cultural tapestry of Nami Island. Known for its stunning landscapes and as the filming location for the iconic drama “Winter Sonata,” Nami Island is a haven for those seeking both beauty and tranquility.
Start your day with a leisurely breakfast amidst the island’s tree-lined roads, where the morning temperature of 20.0°C provides a refreshing start. As you explore the island, the vibrant colors of the trees and the gentle rustling of leaves create a symphony of nature that captivates the senses. Whether you choose to walk or rent a bike, the island’s charm is undeniable.
The journey continues to Petite France, a quaint French village that transports you to a different world. The brightly colored buildings and charming streets are perfect for capturing memories. Nearby, the Italian Village offers a whimsical experience with its giant Pinocchio figure and engaging exhibitions. As you wander through these cultural enclaves, the stories of “The Little Prince” and “Pinocchio” come to life, adding a touch of magic to your day. Nami Island Tour
“Wonderful time - Our tour guide was Seo, a Korean guy with a very friendly smile. The Rail Bike was really cool. Cycling in the snowy weather was a great memory of us. I think it would be fantastic in Autumn. The dagalbi (the chicken with spicy or soy sauce) restaurant that Seo brought us to was delicious! You should try the chicken, then the noodle as well. Nami Island would have been more dreamy if it snowed more. But the scene was still very nice though. Petit France was cute and you could learn many things about the author of ‘Little Prince’. Overall, the tour was great and not so rush for a family trip like mine.” - Reviewed at 2019-12-11
