Highlights
 • Bukchon Hanok Village - Bukchon Hanok Village is home to hundreds of traditional houses called ‘hanok’ that date back to the Joseon Dynasty. The name, ‘Bukchon,’ which literally translates to ‘northern village,’ came about as the neighborhoods that the village covers lie to the north of the two significant Seoul landmarks, Cheonggyecheon

 • Changdeokgung Palace - Changdeokgung Palace means ‘to brighten virtue,’ and is the name of Korea’s most successfully preserved palace. Changdeokgung was designated as UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage in February 1997. It is one of the historic attractions that represent the beauty of Korea. (We will visit Gyeongbokgung Palace on Monday)

 • Jongmyo Shrine - Jongmyo Shrine, built by Lee Seong Gye (1335-1408), was a primary place of worship for kings throughout the Joseon Dynasty and has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (We will visit Insa-dong street on Tuesday)

 • Cheongha Korea Ginseng Museum - you will visit Cheongha Korea Ginseng. Ginseng is first mentioned in “Ji Jiu Zhang” during Han dynasty of China as herb used widely in the orient for so many diseases and ailments. It is a plant which had been regarded as a panacea, a cure all. In the studies, Korean ginseng shows best performances in adaptogenic properties.

 • Hwaseong Haenggung Palace - Hwaseong Hanengung Palace is the biggest shelter; Kings used them since the Jeongjo King period. This is the temporary palace where King Jeongjo stayed at the time of Wonhaeng (long journey) and also where he held a splendid feast on Hyegyeonggung Hong, his mother’s 60th birthday and other events.

 • Hwaseong Fortress - Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is an impressive structure from the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) and the official fortress of Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do. The fortress (constructed from 1794 to 1796) was built as a show of the King’s filial piety towards his father Jangheonseja and to build a new pioneer city with its own economic power. The fortress was designated as Historical Monument No. 3 in January 1963, and in December 1997, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Incredible tour in Seoul and Suwon - Today's tour was excellent! First of all, the Unesco heritage sights are absolutely exquisite. With the hypnotic song of cicadas in the background, under the scorching summer sun, the Changdeokgung and Hwaseong Haenggung Palaces were out of this world. The architecture is purely mesmerizing, with their vibrant colours, intricate patterns and captivating rooftops. That said, what helped me make the most of this wonderful day is the kindness, generosity and brilliance of the tour guide, Chloe: not only extremely knowledgeable and professional, she gave us an insight into the fascinating history of Korea. She was incredibly well-organised, creative and spontaneous and quickly found perfect solutions for our group, such as the exhibition and essential moments of break. This helped me take in everything I was observing, without feeling rushed at all. Helping me have authentic lunch in Myeondong, staying protected from the sun, understanding the history and importance of the visited attractions... Chloe did a fantastic job, not to mention her incredibly helpful tips about many opportunities in Seoul. Given the excessive heat / severe weather alert, she was so kind and accompanied us to our hotels. I am very grateful to have had her as my guide during such a spellbinding tour. Thank you, Chloe, you are a star! 감사합니다!

Informed guide for interesting UNESCO tour - We were the only two on the trip( note higher charge if so). Leo was our brilliant and informative guide, and we had a friendly driver. First palace was a wonderful experience and as it was a Tuesday we were fortunate to do the Secret Garden tour too( instead of a shrine). Ginseng museum is a little weird but interesting and you don’t have to buy anything! Leo took us to a great restaurant for bulgogi, then to Suwon for another beautiful palace plus an overview of the fortress. We have arrived back in Seoul tired and a bit jet lagged, but much better informed about n this fascinating period of Korean history.

Immersive and fun! - Our tour guide, Orota, was absolutely incredible! She was friendly, funny, kind, and very knowledgeable about the UNESCO heritage sites we visited. She even recommended a really good Korean cold noodle place for lunch and shared with us, her Korean culture about food and language and entertainment. Thanks Orota!

Great cultural tour just outside of Seoul - An excellent tour. Our tour guide Ms. Park was very organized, thorough, and informative. We learned so much about Korean culture from her and it all added to our tour. It was an extremely hot and humid day and she was so thoughtful to help us tolerate the temperatures. The lunch was delicious. Our driver was excellent. It was great to see more towns outside of Seoul,

Jackie was great!! The tour was awesome! - Jackie was the best guide! It felt like a real VIP experience. She was caring, informed, and helpful. A fair bit of walking was involved and it was a hot day, but she ensured and my 76yr old were well looked after. It’s also a stunning tour with some great secret touches.

Visiting some of South Korea’s cultural heritage sites - The view is great and our tour guide Sam is very knowledgeable. He takes great photos too. The walk along the fortress is just right with a few rest stop to enjoy the view of Hwaseong Fortress. Enjoyed delicious food at a traditional Korean restaurant. Learned a lot at Jongmyo shrine and marvel at the Changdeokgung palace structure, design and painting.

We entered our hotel lobby early and... -
We entered our hotel lobby early and three of them were already waiting for us--a driver, Jeanie our tour guide, and another lady who said little probably tour-guide-in-training. Good start.
And it turned out we were their only guests, so it was essentially a private tour.
Jeanie's English took some effort to understand/follow, but she was very patient with us.
At first we worried we had inadvertantly signed up for a duplicate tour of the previous day's sites, but she took us to a different, temporary, Palace, a Shrine, and a different Village--this one was an actual village where people lived, not where the government moved houses from different places to make a village of five houses. We saw an actual Fortress still active, where we walked part of the grounds, then rode a trolley around the rest of it. We attended a Martial Arts show with a crowd of locals. We visited the Palace Museum on the grounds of the Palace we had toured the previous day and learned about the history of Korean royalty.

Lunch was bibimbong--delicious!

Best thing: no mandatory factory tours!

We've had this tour on feb 04: cold... -
We've had this tour on feb 04: cold weather but fine and memorable day however, thanks to Jong as she was a nice and knowledgeable guide, telling us about Korean history and dynasties as well as rites and habits.
We were on a three days stop in Korea en route to Fiji and Wallis Island from Paris.

My wife ans I much enjoyed being on a private tour indeed. We could appreciate Hwaseong fortress and Haenggung Palace in the morning even although we had to pay attention to frozen soil in some places. We had the chance to watch a performance led by students in Joseon martial suits as we were on Saturday.
Back to Seoul we could taste the most delightful bibimbap in our short journey to Korea, in a restaurant actually located just in front of our hotel, just in time to feel warmer and strenghtened before the afternoon sites: Bukchon Hanok village then the magnificent Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine.
When Chung left us in Insa-Dong we still could talk with some students in that street and also with people demonstrating every Saturday in Myeong-Dong area.

We highly recommend this day-tour and warmly acknowledge Jong. We now wish to learn more about culture of lovely and engaging South Korea.
