Highlights
  • Tsukiji - Experience tranquility in a serene temple where you can burn incense in a peaceful environment.
  • Tokyo Central Railway Station - Begin your journey at Tokyo Station, one of Japan’s largest train stations. Inspired by Dutch architecture, this station sees around 4,000 trains pass through daily. The surrounding area features a unique blend of modern skyscrapers and traditional elements of the Imperial Palace, making it an ideal spot for group photos!
  • Nihonbashi - The original Nihonbashi Bridge, an arched wooden structure, was built in 1603. The current stone dual-arch bridge was constructed in 1911. A boat landing was added to commemorate the bridge’s 100th anniversary, becoming a popular spot for river transport in the city. Recent efforts aim to revive the riverside’s historical significance as a bustling fish market, enhancing the area’s appeal. The inscription “日本橋” was penned by Shogun Yoshinobu Tokugawa, with the other side featuring Hiragana also written by him.
  • Ningyōchō Station - Stop by the Ningyo-cho district for a traditional snack. Enjoy a sweet pastry filled with red bean paste, handcrafted in local shops using molds that often depict the 7 deities from Japanese mythology. Savor this iconic dessert while learning about its history.
  • Kiyosumi Teien - Once the residence of an Edo era merchant and later a feudal lord, this garden was acquired by Mitsubishi’s founder during the Meiji Period. It was transferred to city ownership in 1932 and features a landscape garden adorned with numerous stones. The pond is home to friendly koi and turtles, making it a lesser-known yet beautiful traditional garden.
  • Naritasan Fukagawa Fudodo Honden - This Buddhist temple enshrines Fudo Myoo, a deity with a sword to cut off worries, a rope to save those who stray, and fire to burn away problems. Monks ceremonially burn wooden plates with wishes, helping worshipers achieve peace of mind.
  • Tsukiji - Return to Tsukiji, retracing your steps and enjoying another look at the harmonious blend of city and nature.
