Join us for a guided journey through our special historic path that traces the origins of brewing in the Queen City and the influential figures and places that positioned this activity as a central theme to the city’s past. Our trail begins at the Tour Centre on Race Street and takes us through the eastern part of the Brewery District along the Brewing Heritage Trail. Here, you will hear tales about the laborers, renowned brewers, and influential beer magnates from the 19th and early 20th century. Be amazed by their work locales, understand the risks they faced, and marvel at the brewing empires they constructed, contributing to America’s premier brews.
Our tour includes an excursion into the historic subterranean lagering cellars and passageways of the ceased Schmidt Brothers/Crown Brewery, as well as external visits to the historic Lafayette, Hudepohl, and Kauffman Brewery buildings. There’s also a chance to enjoy a pint at a local taproom. For those who choose to descend into the underground cellar, bear in mind that stairs are involved, but there’s always an option to stay above ground.
