Highlights
  • Chemuyil - On our journey, we’ll prepare the most authentic traditional Mayan-style pork. We’ll start at my house, where I’ll introduce and explain the ingredients we’ll use. After seasoning the meat, we’ll wrap it in banana leaves and let it cook for about 2.5 hours. While it cooks, we’ll bike to snorkel in four unique cenotes, each distinct and part of our community. Unlike the commercialized cenotes around Tulum, we’ll visit those known only to a few locals. After exploring the cenotes, we’ll return to my house to enjoy the Mayan-style meal we prepared in the morning. You’ll have the chance to make your own tacos and eat as many as you like. As local Mayans, we are excited to share our culture by teaching you how to cook authentic Mayan food and showing you the local surroundings, away from the crowded commercial parks.

  • Cenote Xunaan Ha - This cenote will be the final stop on our adventure. It’s a fully open cenote with two wooden platforms for jumping. We’ll use our snorkel masks to explore the area for about 30 minutes or more. After snorkeling, we’ll enjoy the cochinita pibil we prepared at the beginning of the tour.

A unique and very personal Cenote tour - This excursion was as good as everyone says it is. Talk about personalized service. Gilmer started the tour with meal prep on the table on basically the front porch of his house. Authentic traditional Mayan food. Kind of like Dutch oven. He put it on the Fire to let it cook while we did the tour of four unique cenotes traveling between each one on bicycles. He was a very personable host who explained everything very very well. The cenotes were not crowded. The water was crystal clear. Mask and snorkel weren't required but they allowed us to go through some tunnel areas underwater which was unique and fun. There were alternate routes to the Cenote Caverns if you weren't comfortable underwater. After the tour of the cenotes, we returned to Gilmer's home where we feasted on the meal he had prepped earlier. It was delicious! He tries to keep the group small so you get a very personal experience. This was worth every penny of the price of the Excursion. I definitely feel like I got my money's worth and more.

One of the best tours in Yucatan - I highly recommend this beautiful and well organized tour with Gilmer and his brother. The chosen cenotes are not too famous and we were sometimes even alone with our small group. The bikes were in great shape and the prepared meal was one of the most delicious ones during our whole 4-week-trip through Yucatán. We liked it so much, we even did a second tour with Gilmer.

Great experience off the beaten track - Excellent tour! Learned to cook tacos on the traditional way before going out and visiting four cenotes, all very different, not the most typical public ones. Host spoke great English, provided everything you need, bikes, snorkels, goggles. And the tacos were delicious!!

Outstanding food and a very special cenote discovery tour - I totally recommend this tour. It was great to get to know some cenotes which are not flooded with tourists and we had a great little diving adventure. Gilmer and his brother are great guys, well organized and without allures. The bikes were well taken care off. The prepared food was extremely delicious. Alone for that delicious meal I could repeat the tour over and over.

Great tour - My friend and I had a great tour with Gilmer. He took us to 4 cenotes. 3 were off the beaten path and we saw some really cool caves in those cenotes. We had a great lunch at his house that he started to prepare before we went to the cenotes and it was ready when we got back. He provided a vegetarian lunch for me as a special request. It was a more unique and positive experience than I had expected. Highly recommended.

A Must Do Experience - We had a fantastic day with Gilmer from start to finish. Preparing the food, cycling to each cenote where Gilmer shared his knowledge with us. Highly recommend doing a local tour of the cenotes over the large tours. We got each one to ourselves and Gilmer was great with my kids, age 10 and 14. The last cenote had two platforms to jump off into a lagoon which the kids loved. Then finished off by eating lunch back at Gilmer’s front yard. This was definitely one of the best days of our holiday. We had water shoes which we were glad of and everything else we needed was provided.
