- Pitigliano - Pitigliano is like something out of a fairytale: a place so deeply carved into tufa rock that it’s hard to tell where human craftsmanship ends and nature begins. Inhabited since the 12th century BC, it is also known as “the little Jerusalem” due to its large Jewish community that thrived for nearly four centuries. After visiting, you will return to Civitavecchia.
- Montemerano - Montemerano is the hidden gem of this part of Tuscany. Built on a hill by the powerful Aldobrandeschi family, Montemerano retains the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. The town is completely enclosed by walls, with entry through three gates. Inside, you can visit significant buildings such as the Church of San Giorgio (14th century), the main parish church, and the Pieve of San Lorenzo (12th century), the village’s oldest building and former parish church.
- Cascate del Mulino - Saturnia is one of Italy’s most popular hot spring destinations. You can soak in pools that are naturally 37°C (98°F) year-round. However, the sulphur in the water produces a rotten egg smell that takes some getting used to.

The expedition is set to unfold in Maremma, a vast region in Tuscany that stretches to Lazio, rendering it only 1.5 hours away from Rome and 3 hours from Florence. A unique facet of Maremma is the diverse terrain it possesses: pristine expansive beaches or rugged cliffs, mountains enveloped in thick forests, lake and plains, verdant cultivated hills, and natural thermal regions. It is a timeless locale, steeped in the history of ancient civilizations with the Etruscans initially followed by the Romans, who flourished here for centuries leaving significant artifacts, as evidenced by the Etruscan sites of Pitigliano, Vulci, and the Roman city of Cosa. A portion of the shore excursion will be committed to visiting Saturnia, Cascate del Mulino, Montemerano, and Pitigliano, untouched medieval cities from the 12th century. This intimate group journey entails pick-up/drop-off from Civitavecchia with an English-fluent chauffeur, air-conditioned conveyance, and will provide intriguing historic facts and stories throughout the entire tour!
