- Palazzo Farnese - The Farnese Palace is located just above the town of Caprarola, commanding its surroundings. Caprarola has always symbolized Farnese’s power, and the palace is a prime example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can walk the spiral staircase known as Scala Regia or the “Royal Stairs” and explore the Piano dei Prelati floor, which leads to the expansive terrace.
Experience the stunning frescoes of the winter suite, including the renowned “Room of the World Map” or “Sala del Mappamondo,” which illustrates the world as it was in 1574 when the frescoes were completed. Observe the depiction of the continents on one side of the wall, while the opposite wall is dedicated to the lands where Christianity and the church originated, Judea and Italy. Following this, transfer to Bagnaia to explore the exquisite gardens of Villa Lante.
- Villa Lante - Villa Lante is one of the most remarkable masterpieces of the Italian sixteenth century (22 hectares). Its unique feature is the emphasis on the garden over the architectural structure: the residence is divided into two small twin buildings that are symmetrical with respect to the central axis of the garden, which dominates the entire composition along the water path. The water flows through a triumph of geometries designed by evergreen hedges and peperino statues, creating special basins and water features. Afterward, enjoy a quick light lunch in Bagnaia and transfer to Bomarzo.

This tour, crafted to reveal the Renaissance gems of Tuscia in northern Lazio, begins with the enchanting village of Caprarola, where the majestic Palazzo Farnese, designed by Antonio da Sangallo and Vignola, stands. Initially constructed as a defensive fortress, the palace was later converted into a grand noble residence with five floors, including underground chambers. Inside, some of the most captivating areas include the Scala Regia, a magnificent spiral staircase with columns, and the stunning Sala del Mappamondo. The second stop on the tour is Villa Lante, which features two elegantly frescoed twin palazzos, symmetrically aligned along the garden’s central axis. However, it is the garden itself that commands the entire complex, with its lush greenery and intricate water features creating an atmosphere of perfect harmony. From this enchanting place, travelers will return to the port of Civitavecchia, carrying with them the sensation of having journeyed back in time to the heart of the Italian Renaissance.
