Fantastic outing - We had a fantastic outing on this tour. One of the guides looked after my less confident partner well. Got to see lots of turtles and fish in the deep water of the passage.

Bucket List Must Do - Absolutely must do ~ the team is informative and safety is their priority. But it’s all about getting the most out of what’s to offer and that turtles ~ the turtles are not phased about people in their environment and are chilled and will swim around you and watch you from the bottom

Swimming with turtles and eagle rays! - You really do end up swimming up close with the turtles (although no touching please!), we even spotted an eagle ray come up to the surface. Would recommend doing this on a sunny day to get the most of the weather. Other reviews mention choppy waters - I found this wasn't so bad, and I'm not a super confident swimmer. Perhaps the only 'tough' bit is getting to and from the main snorkelling area, but I felt safe with the instructors the entire time. They map out the resting spots where you can take a breather from swimming. Take your time and enjoy the experience!

Amazing - Kato and Kalian are two of the best. You feel safe and well looked after. They are super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them if you are looking to do a turtle tour. You will not be disappointed. They are just excited to be in the water as you are. We also had the best sunset and they were amazing with my 2 girls. They take the best go pro videos and photos and you get given them direct to your phone before you leave the tour. All the best with growing your business team. You are going to be awesome. Can’t wait to return. Charlotte and Dale schroder

Turtle swimming - Great trip. Still weather, reasonable water visibility. Saw 5 or 6 turtles. Apparently there are eagle rays as well but we couldn't see deep enough to sight them. Staff were clear about the safety issues and the briefing was good. They got us to snorkle past them in shallow water to ensure we had enough competence before letting us loose. They are the only tour to let their customers range free in the area. There are strong currents though we had a pretty good day in that they seemed to be quite manageable. Stunning seeing the turtles clearly at depths of less than 3m. The bulk of the turtles are sighted on the sides of the trench where the currents are much lower. Staff were friendly and approachable. Other tour groups keep their customers in a group so these groups may be a little safer in worse conditions but our staff were keeping a reasonable eye on us. An unforgettable experience and good value for money.

turtle watching - A fabulous experience. Saw lots of turtle. The staff are very good, lots of information. We had a safety briefing, explained everything, what we were doing, where we were going. Definitely recommend, one of the highlights of my holiday. Thank you Snorkel Cook Islands

A must do in Rarotonga - This is a must do in Rarotonga . Well run and professional. Very safety conscious. If i had 1 criticism is that we booked for julie who is not a good swimmer and they would not let her go , but the other tours were taking elderly people out on paddle boards. But otherwise a great experience

Once in a lifetime experience - I was very anxious about swimming with the turtles due to the current, so I made sure I let them know. They drew a map on the sand before we left, which helped to understand where we were when we were out there. You had to pass a shallow water snorkel test. Was amazing to see the turtles. Coming back was tricky walking with the current, but they helped me. With their help I felt safe.

Downright dangerous ! - While the snorkel Cook Islands staff were friendly and did a safety talk prior to the start, the currents we encountered in the passage were very strong and in my opinion quite dangerous, I do not think the risks were adequately explained. In the tour I feared for my safety as I battled to swim out of the current, I have never felt so scared and I am a competent swimmer and pretty much grew up at the beaches of Australia. I have never experienced such currents, the danger cannot be understated and after the tour I subsequently heard from locals that they would never swim there as numerous drownings have occurred in the Ava’avaroa passage. I wish I had known that prior to the tour, I never would have taken such a risk! I don’t think seeing the turtles we saw outweighs the potential dangers, there are other safe places in Rarotonga lagoon to see turtles like Muri and Aroa beaches. Play it safe people, lives are precious!
