Great experience - Enjoyed a great trip to the gannet colony. The driver (Peter) was friendly and shared his knowledge happily. He drove in a safe manner and was careful to point out go and no go areas when we were off the bus. Really enjoyed the trip on the minibus, the commentary and of course the gannet colony.

An illuminating half-day entertainment. - I stayed in Napier and the venue was a pleasant half-hour drive away, mainly along the local coastline. The venue had plenty of parking and the office sold a small selection of souvenirs and cold drinks. There were also toilet facilities. We were greeted by our Tour Guide/Driver, Tony, who proved to be well above average in his profession. The journey to the Gannet Colonies involved a drive over private roads on a Sheep and Cattle Station that also hosted an elite Gollf Club and a large Predator free Native Bird Sanctuary. Tony related the history of the Station, the Golf Club and The Sanctuary together with amusing anecdotes, many from personal experience. I had been warned that as my visit was at the end of the season there may not be many birds but this proved to be wrong as we spotted three colonies, all with adult birds and fairly large Chicks. Tony provided an expert commentary on the birds lifestyle and migratory travels over Tea/Coffee and Biscuits. The drive back to base was just as interesting as the drive there.

The Best Driver/Guide - The guide was a native to the area, so we learned so much. It wasn’t just a canned presentation. A Grandmother took her Grandson, school holiday time. So the guide told the boy if the story of how Kidnappers Bay was named was what he learned in school. He said Yes. She made the trip special for each customer. A trip I would do again.

Gannets Galore! - We knew it was late in the season and wasn’t sure how many gannets we’d actually see but it was perfect! Saw plenty of birds and honestly having Jan as a tour guide made the experience even better! The ride out there was its own adventure and she did an incredible job with the history and then pointing out all kinds of additional wild life. It was an incredible time and we would definitely do it again if in the area. Thanks Jan!!

National Geographic experience of the Gannet Colony at Cape Kidnappers - Very much enjoyed the tour with excellent commentary by Trevor. Such a beautiful sight, so many mothers and chicks. Marveled at the beauty of the cliffs and the sea. Took many pictures. A very nice touch was the coffee/tea and biscuits offered so typically New Zealand hospitality.

Fantastic - The tour was beautiful and so educational about the area, the farm, the preservation activities/ impact and the Gannets. I truly enjoyed it. Wayne has an amazing wealth of knowledge. A bit difficult to hear on the gravel road and understand at times.
