About Wuhou Temple

Wuhou Temple, also known as Wuhou Shrine or Wuhou Memorial Temple, is a temple dedicated to Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei, and other heroes of the Shu Kingdom. Built in 223 AD, it uniquely combines the Emperor’s tomb with his prime minister’s shrine in one temple. Recognized as a National 4A Scenic Spot, it is considered the most significant museum of the Three Kingdoms Period and a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, featuring rich cultural heritage, traditional Chinese architecture, and a beautiful garden with diverse vegetation. Each year, Wuhou Temple draws millions of visitors from around the world to explore the rich history of the Three Kingdoms.

It is the largest Cultural Relics Museum of the Three Kingdoms, featuring Chinese-style architecture and a compact yet beautiful tranquil garden.

  • Jinli Pedestrian Street - Jinli Ancient Street, known as “The First Street of Shu Kingdom,” is a renowned snack street in Chengdu. The ambiance feels like stepping back in time, with well-preserved historical charm. An evening stroll is particularly beautiful, with lanterns illuminating the street and captivating performances.

Located east of Wuhou Memorial Temple in Chengdu, Jinli Ancient Street, or Jinli Pedestrian Street, is celebrated as “the first street of Shu Kingdom” and likened to the famous Chinese painting “Riverside Scenes at Qingming Festival.” Jinli Ancient Street transports visitors back to the Three Kingdoms Period, over 1800 years ago. Spanning over 30,000m², the street stretches about 550m and features Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1636-1912) architecture.

  • Kuanzhai Alley - Kuanzhai Alley, also known as “Wide and Narrow Alley” or “Kuanzhaixiangzi Alley,” comprises three historic parallel alleys from the Qing Dynasty. With ancient-style buildings, local Chengdu life, delicious Sichuan snacks, and exquisite handicrafts, it is one of Chengdu’s most attractive spots.

The alleys include Kuan Alley (Wide Alley), Zhai Alley (Narrow Alley), and Jing Alley. These streets are remnants of buildings that survived the chaos of war during the Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1636-1912). Preserving their original appearance for centuries, Kuanzhai Alley attracts millions of tourists with its traditional Qing-style quadrangle courtyards, local snacks, and glimpses of old Chengdu life. Additionally, the area features trendy bars with young singers and various restaurants, blending traditional Chinese culture with modern life.
