Heavenly! - Going through and getting painted in the caves. Swimming in the pools and see all the waterfalls. It was a truly amazing experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special adventure.

Amazing! Worth every cent. - The tour was an incredible experience - we had the opportunity to see the caves, go tubing down the river, and visit Semuc Champey with ample free time. The local tour guides were knowledgeable, spoke English extremely well and were lively and fun. I would suggest everyone to keep an open mind about the transport between Lanquin to Semuc Champey - it’s an experience that a few not used to it may be taken aback.

Unforgettable Indiana Jones - like experience!!! - Visiting Kanba Caves was a true adrenalin rush!!! Super exciting and challenging for mind and body! Our guide Derik was super nice, savy, and always in control. He knows the area very well despite his young age. Semuc Champey natural pools and surrounding river and falls were gorgeous and refreshing. The car and driver were top notch. It is a private tour so you go at your own pace and respecting your own limits. However I only recommend it for moderately active, highly adventurous adults and fearless kids. Lunch could improve.

Visit to Semuc Champey and nearby Cave. - Wonderful visit Semuc Champey. We had a guide who spoke very little English, even though we paid for an English-speaking guide. We were able to visit the nearby caves and explored them by candlelight. We hiked to the top of the Mirador for a fantastic view of the River below. Then we were able to relax in the pools above the waterfall. We liked our guide very much. we wish you would’ve interacted more with us. One of the other guides on the property showed us how to move easily between the different pools, even showing us how to slide down the slippery rocks which was a lot of fun.

Great day trip but way too expensive - This a great day trip to Lanquin and Semuc Champey. Guide and driver are both very nice. Car was very comfortable. The only thing is that this tour is way too expensive for what you’re getting. I’d recommend that people stay one night in Lanquin and organize the visits by themselves from there

Attention tourist trap! - Attention tourist trap during cave tours near Semuc Champey! We would like to warn other travellers about a fraudulent scam that happened to us after visiting Semuc Champey: We were stopped at the exit by a guide who offered the Kanba cave tour. The tour itself was quite nice with slightly smaller candles. Since the candles were already half burned, the stay in the cave was very short. He stressed several times that we would get an “all-you-can-eat” buffet for 50 quetzales per person at a discount. We finally went into 40 quetzales. Once at the restaurant, the whole thing consisted only of leftovers from a grassed buffet (only salad and meat left), but we still took several plates. When paying, we were suddenly charged 250 quetzales, as they were now billed per plate – contrary to the previous agreement. As we tried to claim this and the discussions became more heated, several locals suddenly appeared, some of them armed to exert pressure. After a lengthy discussion, the original price was finally accepted. But that's not all: He wanted to turn us up a completely overpriced TukTuk by using 4!!! People should sit down. (A total of another 100 quetzales), although we explained to him several times that we paid much less for a tuk tuk for two (60 Q) and it would have to be significantly cheaper for 4 - apart from the space.. We rejected this and stopped a truck. The guide then stopped the truck and demanded additional tips for his “services”, threatening to call the police. Our recommendation: • Be careful when offering “discounted buffets” after tours. • If you find yourself in a similar situation, remain calm but determined. • If you feel insecure, it may be better to pay and leave the situation quickly. We hope that this warning will help other travellers avoid falling into the same trap.
