Grand Turk is a beautiful... - Grand Turk is a beautiful little island with a great port area and beach. The tour took a while to start, but Doug was a terrific guide, telling us a lot about the island's history and culture. We enjoyed this excursion

Open tram is better than closed van! - There are many tours of the island, but most are in enclosed vans. This one is the best because you’re on an open tram. You can’t hear the guide as well, but the breeze makes up for it.

A summary of Grand Turk - I thought the driver took us to interesting places and he was very informative. I wish there would have been more information on BBC where to meet up.

Wild donkeys! - Not much to see on the tour, but the poor island was ravaged by two hurricanes in the last 7 years. The tour does show you housing that ranges from poor to middle class. And wild donkeys everywhere! Our tour guide did share information about the history of the island and was humorous. The beaches available next to the cruise ships are beautiful, still plenty of time to enjoy them after this short tour of the "everyday" part of the island. Sadly, the flamingos weren't around when we were there.

Reasonable Tour for the money - Nice tour of Gand Turk and Doug was an excellent guide/driver. A few downsides: -Tour start was difficult to find as we searched for the mythical path to follow to the port main gate. -Tour start delayed 15 min (sitting in the hot sun) while inexplicably waiting for a family to arrive from. One of the cruise ships. -Tour advertised water/soft drinks available; didn't happen. -Delayed another 15 min at lighthouse stop (after being there 20 min while Doug negotiated with a local to use his compressor to put air in one of the Tram tires).

I tried to ascertain the... - I tried to ascertain the time of departure prior to the excursion, but did not receive a reply. However, we were met on leaving the port at the appointed time & advised the departure would be delayed by about 45 minutes, due to waiting for guests from a second cruise ship. We waited with another couple (from our ship) by the nearby beach. When the transport eventually arrived, another 4 guests and two children were already aboard, and they were all from our ship, which begged the question as to why we had needed to wait. It immediately started to rain very heavily and, being seated on the edge got extremely wet. After a short time, we stopped alongside the sea wall where there were a couple of shops and several tourist stalls. We were given approximately half an hour there, with the driver saying he had something to tend to and he left. He returned much later than the agreed time, with a second trailer on the vehicle, and another group of people. We were then told we wouldn’t leave for some time, to allow the second group time to look around. Eventually we were all taken to the lighthouse at the end of the island where we were given time to look around, following which we returned to the port, much later than anticipated. We didn’t find the island particularly interesting and, overall, the excursion was disappointing.

Tram breakdown that was poorly managed - Difficult to locate gathering point (inadequate signage). Tram broke down 20 minutes into the tour. Sat there on the road for over an hour while the operator and mechanic he summoned tried in vain to render the engine operative (this apparently is a one tram operation). Rather than summon a taxi, customers were ferried by the assistants auto by 3s and 4s over the ensuing half-hour back to the starting point.
