Into the Heart of Jandia

The thrill of the unknown is what drives us, isn’t it? As I embarked on the Cofete Sunset 4x4 Safari, I felt that familiar rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins. The journey began with a rugged off-road adventure through the central mountains of Fuerteventura. The landscape was otherworldly, with cloud-wreathed slopes plunging down to endless deserted beaches. As we descended into the ramshackle hamlet of Cofete, the mysterious Villa Winter loomed in the distance. This mostly abandoned village is rumored to have been a Nazi hideout after World War II, adding an eerie allure to the place. The villa stood as a silent sentinel, its secrets buried deep within its walls.

Sunset at Jandia

Our journey continued to the southern tip of Fuerteventura, Punta de Jandia. Dinner at a waterfront diner at Playa el Puertito was a delightful end to the day. Savoring a typical Fuerteventura meal with a glass of cava in hand, I watched the sun dip below the horizon. The camaraderie of fellow thrill-seekers, the taste of local cuisine, and the beauty of the sunset made for an unforgettable experience.
