Day at the National Park of Serra da Estrela Manteigas - Seia – Sabugueiro – Covilhã – 70Km. Overnight in Covilhã

Serra da Estrela - The highest point of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, called Torre, stands at 1993 meters, making it the highest point in mainland Portugal. We will explore this area and visit a small market selling local products.

Seia - Known for its delicious bread and buttery sheep’s cheese, we will walk through the city center, connect with locals, and enjoy a tasting at a typical tavern.

Museu do Pao - Visit the bread museum in Seia and participate in a small bread-baking workshop.

Covao D’Ametade - Covão d’Ametade is one of the most iconic spots in Serra da Estrela, located at nearly 1500 meters altitude. It is the source of the important Portuguese river, the Zêzere.

Sabugueiro - At about 1050m above sea level, Sabugueiro is the highest village in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. It features water mills, a community oven, and rye fields for bread-making. The village is known for its warm, woolen clothing and the faithful Serra da Estrela dogs.

Covilhã - In the historic city of Covilhã, enjoy good food, narrow streets, and its Historic Center. Take a guided walk through the city and its surroundings.

Museu do Queijo - Visit the Wool Museum, which focuses on the conservation of textile industrial heritage and the technologies associated with wool industrialization in the Beira Interior region.

Day at Belmonte and departure to Tomar – 233km – overnight in Tomar

Belmonte - Belmonte’s most famous son is Pedro Álvares Cabral, a key figure of the Age of Discovery. The town is also known for its well-preserved Jewish Quarter and the nearby Jewish Museum, which tells the story of Jews who fled Portugal during the Inquisition.

Tomar - Tomar, with the Nabão River, is a relaxing place to visit. Walk along the riverside and learn about the history of the Knights Templar.

Convento de Cristo - The Castle of Tomar and the Convent of Christ, listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1983, are must-see attractions. The Convent of Christ, built in the 12th century, features a mix of Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles, with a distinctive Manueline style.

Castelo Branco - The Garden of S. João Baptista in Castelo Branco, designed in Baroque style, is considered an evocation of Paradise on earth. It was part of the public spaces of the Episcopal Palace of Castelo Branco.

Fatima – Nazaré – Obidos departure to Lisbon – 140km

Fatima - Our first stop is the world-famous Sanctuary of Fátima, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared in 1917. The Sanctuary attracts an estimated 5 million visitors annually.

Nazare - For lunch, we head west to Nazaré, a charming fishing village known for its unique customs and traditions.

Obidos - The medieval village of Óbidos is one of the most well-preserved in Portugal. Its strategic location near the Atlantic coast made it important historically. The town became more prosperous after being chosen by the royal family and was gifted to Queen D. Isabel by King D. Dinis in the 13th century.

Lisbon - Travel back to Lisbon.

Ericeira - We will end our journey with a beautiful sunset at Ericeira beach, a surf paradise recognized by one of the largest surf communities.
