• Temple of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil - The Sri Kailasanathar Swami Devasthanam temple is situated behind the Colombo Fort railway station. It is also known by other names such as Captain’s Garden Hindu Temple and Kapikaawatha Shivan Temple. Many believe it to be the oldest Hindu temple in Colombo, with a history dating back to the 17th century. Although the buildings are not that old, the classic architecture and sculptures are quite impressive. • Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque - This mosque is an iconic structure located in the Pettah district of Colombo. Its striking red and white swirl pattern makes it a popular tourist attraction. Designed in 1908 by Habibu Lebbe Saibu Lebbe, an Indian Muslim trader who settled in Sri Lanka in the early 1900s, the mosque is a must-see. You will drive past this iconic building on our tour, with an opportunity to stop and take a picture.

• Colombo Fort - The Portuguese built Colombo Fort in the 15th century, developing their trading post into a fortified base and harbor to extend their control over the island’s interior. In the 16th century, the Dutch took control, partially demolishing and expanding the fort. When the British ruled the entire country, they demolished the walls and developed the area as the capital. You can still see some remaining colonial buildings, many of which have been renovated, such as the Galle Face Hotel, Presidential Secretariat, Grand Oriental Hotel, the red and white Cargills department store buildings, the General Post Office, and the Fort Police Station. We will take you through these historic fort streets during our city tour.

• Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple - This vibrant Buddhist temple, with a history of 120 years, is the most visited temple in Colombo. The temple houses a small museum with a collection of various artifacts and antiques from Sri Lanka and different Buddhist cultures such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai. The “Seema Malaka,” an assembly hall for monks designed by the famous architect Geoffrey Bawa, is located on a lake near the temple and is a popular venue in Colombo. • Viharamahadevi Park - Viharamahadevi Park, formerly known as Victoria Park, is a public park located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, in front of the colonial-era Town Hall. Built by British colonial rulers, it is the oldest and largest park in Colombo. Originally named after Queen Victoria, it was later renamed in honor of Queen Viharamahadevi, a Sri Lankan queen. The park features amazing tropical trees, fountains, and a beautiful statue of Lord Buddha, making it ideal for a walk. We will stop here so you can take pictures to remember your visit.

• Independence Memorial Hall - Situated in Independence Square (formerly Torrington Square) in Colombo 7, Cinnamon Gardens, the Independence Memorial Hall was built to commemorate independence from the British in the 1940s. The monument stands at the site where the formal ceremony marking the start of self-rule, with the opening of the first parliament by Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, took place on February 4, 1948. The hall is designed based on the architecture of the Magul Maduwa (the meeting hall of the last king of Sri Lanka) in Kandy. The columns and pillars are adorned with traditional Sri Lankan carvings and paintings. It is a popular venue among travelers in Colombo.
