- Temple of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil - Built during the latter part of the 1700s, the Kovils at Captain’s Garden, Maradana are believed to be the oldest in Colombo. The area had been an island with the waters of the Beira Lake surrounding it. Devotees had travelled by boat to reach the temples to worship and make vows. During the Dutch period Captain’s Garden was known as ‘Cilamagoda’ and was an area of great economic activity since the warehouses for cinnamon, pepper, coconut, oil and coir were located in this vicinity.
Today, the Beira Lake no longer surrounds the Kovils, but the railway tracks that are constantly busy with trains. Yet, the environs of the Kovils are peaceful and only the sounds of the poojas can be heard. The elaborately decorated Gopurams reflect the main deities of the respective abodes, Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh. The interior is beautiful and spiritual, with sculptures and motifs depicting Hinduism and culture. The two premises are connected by a central courtyard where you can worship both.

The best. - We have been on at least 50 tours since we started our around the world trip and Rosmere our guide did something that no other guide has done. On our city tour of Colombo, Sri Lankan he walked with us through the food market district and explained the different fruits and vegetables that the local people buy and how they prepare them. Thanks Rosmere for a great tour.

Visiting Colombo - Great to see more of a city I'd only previously had a brief visit to. Sri Lanka is a fascinating country, and takes its lead from its capital. Romesh did a great job. Highly recommended.

The best way to see Colombo - Really great tour with Romesh and Sanjeewa - a fantastic way to see Colombo. Picked up from our hotel and dropped back afterwards - so easy. Highly recommended.

City sightseeing tour - Just had the most amazing experience with Ricky and Segar, they were fab guides, took us all over Colombo, water, temple entry(bar1 ) was all included it was such a great family experience, we took in a Hindu, Buddhist and Mosque temples, along with lotus tower( entrance to top not included but so worth it), saw some amazing sites and all for $38 each, such great value for money, a fab experience, very safe, very Knowledgable and two great guys to spend the time with, really looks after us.

A great Tuk Tuk tour, so glad we booked it! - A great Tuk Tuk tour with out fantastic guide Ricky! Great communication beforehand, Ricky arrived early and took us on a brilliant tour of Colombo. We started at a huge Hindu temple which was amazing but closed shortly after we arrived. We enjoyed our brief trip up the Lotus Tower, we got a few minutes of the view but then it poured with rain and cloud cover spoiled our view, it was just unlucky timing with the weather. The market visit was very interesting, a real sense of Colombo. The traffic is crazy and travelling by Tuk Tuk was certainly and adventure. Ricky looked after us really well, he shared so much information with us and was friendly and considerate. Thank you Ricky, we enjoyed our tour with you and would definitely recommend it.

Highly recommended tour - Great tour of Colombo city on a tuk tuk. Our guide Romesh was really nice and friendly. He showed us all the important historical sites and temples. Tour ended with a delicious Srilankan lunch.

Great, fast intro to the city - Mr. Caviar was a great tour guide. He picked me up on time and packed many sites into one tour. I appreciated his explanations and the food treats he pointed me toward. When the skies let loose, he was prepared with an umbrella and his driving was great on roads of chaos. He was incredibly kind and adjusted the tour to fit my particular needs/interests.

100% recommend - Caviar and Ricky were great guides and very keen to ensure we enjoyed our tour. We had 2 tuktuks for 3 of us, as my husband and son are very tall,
I would 100% recommend this tour if you have time in Columbo, to see all the historical and important buildings, and experience the city tuktuks,
