Highlights
  • Villa Olmo - A grand structure with a slightly elevated central section, adorned with columns featuring medallions of Plato, Solon, Thales, Socrates, and Pythagoras, crafted by Ticino sculptor Francesco Carabelli. It houses a museum dedicated to Alessandro Volta, the inventor and native of Como.
  • Villa Erba - A site of significant historical value, home to the Museum of Luchino Visconti’s Rooms, and also serves as an exhibition and conference center. Situated by the lake, it is set within a magnificent centuries-old park, including a green area that once functioned as a riding track.
  • Villa D’Este Golf Club - Regarded as one of the most stunning architectural masterpieces of the sixteenth century. Designed by the renowned architect Pellegrino Pellegrini, known as “Il Tibaldi,” the villa is nestled in a 10-hectare park with ancient plants. Here, you can admire Pellegrini’s Nymphaeum, the Fountain of Hercules, and the Temple of Telemachus. The halls feature captivating artworks, including pieces from the French school, the school of Canova, and decorations by Andrea Appiani. It has been a luxury hotel for 150 years.
  • Villa Le Fontanelle - A yellow, four-story building constructed in the early 19th century in neoclassical style by the eccentric Englishman Lord Charles Currie, who, like many, fell in love with Lake Como.
  • Villa Passalacqua - A gem on the left bank of the western branch of Lake Como, Villa Passalacqua in Moltrasio is a landmark for luxury hospitality in Como. Originally a private residence of the Odescalchi family, it became a lavish hotel after being owned for over a century by the Lucini Passalacqua family, who hosted notable figures such as Churchill, Torelli Viollier, and Bellini.
  • Torno - Torno, a town in the province of Como, is located 6 kilometers from the capital and sits on a promontory extending over the waters of the Lario, forming a picturesque amphitheater.
  • The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como - Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como is a serene retreat on the sunny shores of Lake Como. Dating back to the 19th century, Villa Roccabruna is the heart of the resort and has been meticulously renovated to blend modern Italian elegance with subtle oriental charm.
  • Villa Troubetzkoy - Built in the mid-19th century, it is named after Russian Prince Alexander Troubetzkoy. The prince used dynamite to demolish a large cliff, earning him the nickname “turbascogli” from the Blevians. The villa features steep pitches with distinctive dormer windows and a bold elevator that descends from the Como road to the lake, showcasing “jugendstil” architecture.
