Unique tour for any “Quiet Man Crazies” (Aka movie fans) - The tour was wonderful, Jerry shared so many stories about the filming of the Quiet Man in Cong. The village was gorgeous and there’s a great free parking lot near the area. The museum is a one-of-a-kind and the gift shop has a lot of items for family and friends!

Don’t miss this if you are a fan of the movie! - Very good tour with tour guide, Jerry. My husband is a fan of the movie and enjoyed it thoroughly! So glad we took a side tour to do this!

Amazing experience - Was a great experience to connect the memories to the movie I viewed many many times. To actually see the location of some of the scenes was so joyous.

Foodie Mad Family Review - Only an hour’s drive from Westport in South Mayo is the picturesque small village of Cong. For a tiny village it certainly packs a punch. We enjoyed a cuppa at The magnificent 5 star Ashford Castle before taking a short drive down the road to the village. We had a wander around the incredible Augustinian Cong Abbey. Its remains feature some of the finest examples of medieval ecclesiastical architecture in Ireland. It’s also the location of the famous 1951 movie, The Quiet Man, with Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne. You can get tickets for The Quiet Man Cottage Museum or stroll past the various beautiful locations that featured in the film.

Tour and Taste Galway - Gerry Greallish of Tour and Taste Galway was great. Took us on a walking tour of Galway. The Trieste with the wine and cheese was our favorite of the three. It is a small gen tucked away that we likely would not have found otherwise. Finished off the tour with an Irish coffee made right at OConnells on eyre square. The Hyde was good as well. Their gin was good. Gerry took the time to explain a number of the intricacies of Irish food and drink. And the owner of the Trieste also went to great lengths to explain the various cheeses sampled. And for an afternoon food tour we had plenty of of food and drink. We did the tour August 21 and highly recommend it. I think Gerry has other food tours as well. If they are as good as this one was, please give them a try.

Interesting walk - Seeing the locations where the film was shot and the stories that go with it are an absolute must for any fan of the film.

Fabulous Myseum - Fabulous museum, packed with memorabilia relating to the Quiet Man movie, starring John Wayne, Maureen O Hara. A must visit when in Cong, especially for fans of The Quiet Man. Kathleen & John

It's John Wayne - Amazing! Lot's of little anecdotes about the filming from a very knowledgeable and charismatic guide, some very poignant singing as well, be prepared!! As a huge fan of the Duke, this was a bit of a pilgrimage for me, and didn't disappoint! Highly recommend!!

From Michaeleen’s B&B to a wonderful tour of Cong - thank you Gerry Collins ! - I have been to Cong several times as The Quiet Man is my favourite film. However, this was the first time I’d done the walking tour and it was BRILLIANT! The guide was Gerry Collins and he was a mine of information and very, very funny! His grandfather had been an extra in the film and he had met Maureen O’Hara and several members of John Wayne’s family. He could tell us things that couldn’t be discovered without his personal experience. I bought a little book that he had written : “Tales of the Quiet Man Tour Guide” - what a great entertaining and informative read with a wealth of photos too. Gerry also owns Michaeleen’s Manor B&B in Cong and it is full of pictures of the making of the film, of the film itself and the actors. There are also wooden plaques all over the house with quotes from the film and even a reconstructed bridge that featured in the film. I was fortunate enough to be staying at this delightful B&B where I was made very welcome. It was great value for money too! The walking tour ended up back at the museum which is a replica of the house that John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara lived in with furniture from the film, the famous tandem and the bed. He got two members of the group to dress up as Sean and Mary Kate and enact a couple of scenes from the film which involved them getting into the bed! It was a scream! On our return to the museum we bumped into a local character called Vincent who gave a rendition of “The Isle of Innisfree” and “The Wild Colonial Boy”. That was a real treat!

Skip the tour and walk the town on your own. - We visited just in time for the noon tour and was told to hurry to join the group behind the Museum. The tour guide quickly asked for my tickets, which the lady upstairs never gave me so I showed him my receipt for $72 euro - four tickets at $18 euro a piece. The guide then stated “is that the right receipt” so I showed it to him again and this is all in front of 14 other guests waiting for the tour. I get it, Jerry has to tell his stories for $18 euro a piece to stretch the tour into an hour, but lose the jokes about Irish American tourists and how we spend money because that money is what supports this tourist trap. In my opinion, just walk the town on your own at your own pace and skip the $18 euro tour around one block.
