Operating Schedule: This tour departs from Galway Cathedral (H91 A780) at 09:30. The representative will meet you on the steps of Galway Cathedral facing the river and the new bridge construction.

2. Oughterard
Aughnanure Castle - home to the mighty O’Flaherty chieftains, a very notable family in the Galway region. Donal O’Faherty later married the sea pirate Grace O’Malley. The grounds of this castle are well preserved.

3. Kylemore Abbey
You will have ample time to explore the grounds of this historic abbey and gardens.

4. Clifden
The capital of Connemara, founded by D’Arcy, one of the 14 tribes of Galway. This is where John Alcock and Arthur Brown crash-landed after the first non-stop transatlantic flight.

Join us for the Castles of Connemara Tour. We’ll be exploring some of Connemara’s spectacular castles during our journey. Aughnanure castle is known for being the historical residence of the O’Flaherty Clan, and has ties to Grace O’Malley. We then traverse the untamed beauty of the 12 Bens mountain range and pristine Connemara landscapes. Our adventure proceeds to Kylemore Abbey and Victoria Walled Gardens; here, you can roam around the stunning grounds, perfectly encased between mountains and lakes. Along the way to Clifden, you’ll be captivated by the panoramic views provided by the scenic sky road.
