Traditional Cooking Classes in Crete - Do it! - My multigenerational family of 8 spent the day with Traditional Cooking Classes during our port visit to Crete on a recent cruise. We were greeted with an air conditioned van by Tony, our driver, after getting off the cruise ship bus transfer at the port gate. He told us about Crete as he drove us to the village of our cooking class. When we arrived in Archanes, we were taken to a cute business with a nice, clean restroom, small kitchen, and covered porch area. It was nice that there was a fan set up to help keep us cool. Tables were set up on the porch as well, with the ingredients and cooking tools we'd need for the morning. We prepared stuffed peppers & tomatoes and tzatziki. Some of my family members don't care for tomatoes, so they made extra peppers. While the peppers and tomatoes cooked, we were served local greek wines. Our hostess was sweet and informative (I think her name was Maria). She even made a short trek down the street to buy local bread for my parents, who love Greek olive oil with their meals. Our morning cooking was relaxing and fun. We made fantastic family memories. I did arrange a meat selection prior or our arrival, but somewhere it got lost in translation. So we did have a veggies only meal. My teenager was still hungry, so our hostess brought him meat, but I had to ask a couple of times. That was the only downer of the day. Otherwise, it was a great experience, and I'd recommend it to others.

Educational - I enjoyed getting my hands in the food and learning new recipes. There was a lot of down time in between recipes, and I thought we were learning 4 recipes not 3. However the experience was wonderful. Maria was a great teacher.

AMAZING Cooking Experience!!! - This cooking class was so much fun! We were hesitant at first about doing it because it was a little ways out of the Heraklion, where we were staying, but boy were we so glad we did it!!! Natasha was so kind and welcoming and SO patient in helping us with our cooking and the food was AMAZING, we couldn’t even eat all of the food because there was SO much, so you definitely WILL NOT leave feeling hungry! If we ever get back to Crete we would absolutely take this class again, what a perfect way to spend the day learning how to cook some delicious Greek/Cretan dishes! The tzatziki sauce was so delicious, we ended up taking the rest of it with us back to our hotel to eat! A MUST DO FOR CRETE!!!

Authentic cooking class - Absolutely amazing! The host was funny and super knowledgeable. I had a great time cooking all these traditional dishes and eating them together with the other members of the group. It felt very authentic. Also, the driver who took us was punctual and made us feel comfortable during the trip. Highly recommended!

Lovely experien e. - Angelina is a lovely, bubbly shef who took us step by step through the recipes. And since we were such amazing shefs 😉 once it was cooked we got to eat it with some lovely wine and raki and it tasted amazing. Loved it.

Tasty food but would I book this class again? - I was really looking forward to the class. The booking experience was easy and communication to arrange the transport was great. We arrived at Angela's home and received a warm welcome. The atmosphere was great, there was 3 other participants in the class. The description listed 6 dishes but we only cooked 3 of them. We did have all 6 dishes for our lunch but we only prepared 3 of them. When I asked if we are making a Greek salad (listed in a sample menu) I was told that I can make my own Greek salad. I think this was meant to be a joke but I did not find it funny. We did not get any recipes as per description. Angela was very friendly but I do not think the experience matched the description and I found it a bit expensive for what was actually delivered.

Class cancelled - The cooking class contacted me the night before to tell me that the transfer which was supposed to be included wasn't included and that I was only person signed up for the class - I would get a refund if I cancelled they said BUT that has not happened and they told me to do it on website which won't let me do it. So very disappointing and frustrating not to get the refund I was promised.
