Cool local - This is an all day trip. About 2 hours outside of Rio but such a beautiful little beach town. They take you to 3 different locations on the boat and good food at a local restaurant.

Buzios cruise - Lovely views from the coast. Lunch was ok although the restaurant was overcrowded. Buzios is an amazing place to visit.

Beautiful Buzios but booked with the wrong tour - We booked this English speaking tour to Buzios which really is such a beautiful area. The area is well worth a visit however I would not recommend this exact tour especially if you are English speaking. We got picked up at 7.30am as discussed and made the 3 hour journey, all was going very smoothly until the boat tour. The boat trip included 3 separate stops with opportunities to swim at each which in my opinion is not needed, I'd say 1 or 2 maximum. With this came a lot of hidden costs. You had to pay 35 reals per person to swim in certain parts of the sea where the fish and coral are visible. With this deal you got underwater photos, to swim slightly away from the boat and a snorkel. We didn't want the snorkel or photos and said we just wanted to swim in the sea and see fish/coral but staff were adamant the fee still applied. There was no food or drink included in the cost on the boat (not even water!), this was all extra. After we had our swim we were advised we could buy the underwater photos which was another 200 reals. After paying 70 reals to swim in the sea then being stung to buy the photos we were told were included we were not happy. Whilst we were in the sea there were various small boats pulling up alongside our boat selling kebabs, ice cream etc. The staff allowed these people on board right next to our bags containing some of our valuables. The guys could have easily grabbed our bags and drove off. Thankfully nothing happened however this cut short our swimming time in the sea as we wanted to ensure our belongings were safe. Most of the boat staff including our tour leader were swimming in the sea, drinking cocktails and sunbathing in skimpy swimwear which in my opinion really isn't professional. Nobody explained to us in English where we were, what the plan was, etc. other than our very basic leaflet which was handed to us in the morning transfer. Apparently there was a turtle but again we were not told until we docked. Eventually we got back to the harbour. We then walked at least half hour in 35 degrees heat to our restaurant. After no food or drink since 7am at our hotel, by around 4pm we felt exhausted and more than ready for our included "lunch". I cannot fault the restaurant as the all-you-can-eat buffet was very nice, staff were attentive and friendly and the views were spectacular. Unfortunately we were told we had to meet at around 5.30pm to start our journey back to Rio. This left us an hour and a half to explore the streets of beautiful Buzios, rush our long awaited "lunch" and see the beach. Overall the boat trip was way too long, this was definitely not a tour for English speaking tourists and there was not much time to see Buzios. I wouldn't recommend this tour but I would recommend visiting this area as it is very beautiful and well worth the journey.

We Lost A Day In Rio... - We were staying in a hotel in Leblon that was not on the tour company's list of hotels where they picked up passengers, so we had to leave our hotel much earlier to ensure we made it to the pick-up location in time of 6:50am. If we'd know the first 2 hours of the tour were going to be driving around the back streets of Ipanema and Copacabana picking up other passengers, we would have wouldn't have even gone. It's a 3+ hours bus ride to Buzios as it is. To make matters worse, at more than a few stops we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for the people to emerge from their hotels. On the way it seemed these same people had to get up and ask the driver if there was internet on the bus. There wasn't, contrary to the sign that indicated there was. We finally arrived in Buzios around 12:30pm...already nearly a 6 hour day for us. On this day, no fault of the tour company, we were told minutes before we arrived that the schooner ride was cancelled by the Brazilian Navy because of high winds. So we eat lunch first since the schedule was now thrown off. Lunch at a local Brazilian buffet was just okay, great staff, but the food was nothing to write about. After lunch we met up with the group and the guide. I figured the trip would be cut short and we'd head back in a few hours, but that was not to be the case. The guide told us we were free to run about the city and to meet back at 5:40pm. 4+ hours to roam around Buzios. Nice city, but 4 hours was a bit much to walk around a place that doesn't have much except a lot of restaurants and bars...and we'd come all this way to ride a boat. The guide indicated we would get part of our money refunded, but I'm not certain we did. We finally get back on the bus. Again, a few people apparently can't tell time because we wait for them to make their way to the bus late. So begins the long ride back to Rio. Just as the ride to Buzios, half the bus has to get up and beat on the door seperating the driver from the passegers, this time about who know what. Thinking since we were the first to get on the bus that we'd be the last to be dropped off. Pablo, the guide, must have been thinking what I was and we found ourselves being dropped off first. Thank you, Pablo! Taxi back to the hotel, we arrived at 10pm. A heck of a lot longer than 12 hours, and that was without the boat ride. Personally, when the boat was cancelled, the trip should have been eat, shop, look around an hour hour and half, tops, Get back on the bus and go. We should have been back a lot earlier. Also , maybe to improve service and save time, instead of driving a big tour bus through the crowded streets of Rio picking up people, require everyone to meet the bus at a predetermined location at a set time. Everyone meets the bus, hops on, and it goes. Just a suggestion. While we experienced a place many never will, this was a complete waste of one of our precious days in Rio. We almost got off at one of the hotels when it was taking forever for the people to get on and cut our losses, but we thought better of it. Now we wish we had.

Not worth the 7hrs in the bus! - Not worth the 7hrs on the bus. The tour guide didn't translate anything in English he kept talking Brazilian & even though we told him we don't understand he just ignored us. He didn't give any information about how the tour was going to be etc... i don't even understand why he was there as he didn't do or explain anything. The tour is around 4hrs on a very old, dirty boat & they bring you to one spot to snorkel where there are some fish & then they stop to 2 more spots where there is nothing at all. After that you have lunch at 4pm in an unpleasant dirty restaurant. Won't recommend this tour at all..

Wet and wasteful? - Viator would not give 100% refund, even though it rained. Supplier was willing, however, but couldn't without Viator doing so. Boat trip was a complete waste of time...another drinking party that you pay extra for. First stop was not far from the dock? Ride to/from was between 3-4 hours. Buyer beware!
