Walking tour with Gregorio - This is our first time in Rio and of course we had to come during Carnival. Be prepared for the unexpected but that’s half the fun. It didn’t go how it was originally planned due to due to the carnival schedule but that didn’t stop Gregorio from showing us a good time. He improvised and we had a better day than we could ever hope for! Thank you Gregorio for going out of your way to show us the beautiful city of Rio!!

Solo - What an awesome tour. Amazing seeing another side to rio. Monica is an amazing tour guide and really goes out of her way to explain and involve every person on the tour.

Viator screwed it up. - Was disappointing. Took a cab for $60 rio and showed them confirmation. They told us it was the next night. They tried to feed us but no one spoke English so it was confusing. Will see if I get a refund

Worst experience of all. - We had to wait 2 hours. We introduced ourselves. It was raining all along. Spoke to viator 3 times. Tried to talk to tour guide. She chatted and did not call back. We are senior citizens and have traveled in more than 80 countries. We explained well with translator that we don't eat pork. We were served with pork soup. Beef shewers was very hard. In short we had a worst experience.

Worst tour I've ever been on -- guide uninformed, ditched us to drink with other family on tour? - Booked this tour through Viator, so I felt a bit of comfort that it would be at least okay. It's honestly the worst tour I've ever been on anywhere in the world. Truly, the guide was so uninformed and unaware that it could become dangerous. We booked a tour for this region because we wanted to learn more about it and be safer in a group, but our tour guide literally knew nothing about any of the regions we visited. It was like we paid only for the transportation. Our guide did not say anything about the region other than calling the buildings "colonial" repeatedly, pointing to the fine arts museum and theater and telling us the name of the building written on the outside, and pointing to the flea markets we walked through and telling us the stuff was cheap and a great deal. Eventually, I asked why there were so many colonial buildings, who built them, how the region came to be what it is now. No answer other than people go to Lapa to drink and party the night away? In Lapa, did not see anything other than the Selaron steps -- which he said absolutely nothing about. Literally "And here we have the Selaron steps which the artist worked on for a very long time -- the tour bus will be here waiting for you in 20 minutes" When we were waiting for the tram, he literally did not talk to anyone on the tour other than to tell us we had to wait in the line. I've attached a couple of photos of him talking to random people that were not on the tour during the duration of the line. We did not have advanced tickets for the tram and nothing about the tour was additive to what you'd do on your own. A complete waste of money. When we got to Santa Teresa, he informed us "here, you can walk around the shops, and there are some nice houses down the street, I am going to go drink with the other 4 people since they want to have a drink at the bar -- let's all meet here in 45 minutes" ... not only did he completely ditch us in Santa Teresa, but when 45 minutes passed, he was still at the bar with the other family, and he tried to pressure us to sit down and have a drink. Told us we were on vacation and needed to relax. And then proceeded to delay leaving the bar for another 45 minutes. The next stop was the "green parks" in Santa Teresa, which we pulled up to and were closed. He said this was due to the New Year, but I have a suspicion it's because it was after 6pm and they took way too long at the bar. We stopped to take pictures of the view in Santa Teresa in the side of the street twice in random places on our way down. The tour was also supposed to be in English and consisted of 6 people including me and my partner. The other 4 people were expecting a tour in Portugese, so the guide attempted to do the tour in both Portugese and English. This is extremely ridiculous for a 6 person tour, and the guide was very rude about it. He joked around with the Brazilian family and then would say things like "now in English just for the couple" and "now I have to repeat myself in English" -- his English was not very good and he said much more in Portugese than he did in English. None of this was funny and it was extremely unprofessional and very sad.
