Rocinha Favela Tour - Did this tour today with Rio40Turismo. Didn’t really know what to expect and was a bit apprehensive, but what a surprise, It was excellent, a real eye opener and our guide Wesley was superb, very informative, knowledgeable and very helpful. He was born in the Favela so knew all the little nooks and crannies and knew all the kids and the locals. The sights we visited were amazing, photograph opportunities galore, shows a very contrasting view of Rio to what we’ve seen previously. This is a tour I would highly recommend to anyone, although if you have difficulty walking & going down steep steps you may struggle. Excellent value for money and well worth a look.

impressive experience - Bruno was a nice guide, he told us about the reality of the people who live there. He explained to us how the things work there from the water system to the safe areas. we walked through the center of the neighborhood passing by to the church, school, going to the top and ending in a street with a lot of stores. If you want to experience a tour out of the traditional ones, choose Bruno. Thank you Bruno for the day.

Insightful tour with opportunities to give back to the people of the favela - Our guide, Bruno, was brilliant! He is a favela local and gave so much information and history. The day was hot and there was often little shade, so bear that in mind if you are not used to the heat. We visited a local artist shop with gorgeous paintings and prints, with the opportunity to buy. Profits help local children learn English. Do also take cash to buy water and snacks - Rio was already cheaper than Europe but very cheap in the favelas and it’s great if the people of the favela can profit from the tourism.

The best favela Tour - Bruno was our guide through this Rocinha tour. He was nice, respectful, and explained a lot of things about how things in the favela actually works, overcoming the tourists’ stereotypes about it. Some children danced for us, people were nice and curious to meet us, and Bruno made us live the experience in total safety, leaving also a lot of time to take pictures. A very good experience that I definitely recommend.
