Well worth it! - Great tour that was well worth it. We explored the favela, saw inside of a favela home with great views, watched a copiera dance class/took pics with them, rode on the back of a motorbike, went to various viewpoints where we could take pics, visited an art exhibit and visited a schoolyard with kids playing futball (soccer). It rained during the latter half of our trip so bring an umbrella or try to reschedule if the weather forecast looks questionable. Also watch your step as it’s very easy to trip and fall (especially on rainy days). But visiting a favela in the rain is also a fascinating experience worth considering. Our group was the two of us, another young solo gentleman and the two tour guides which was fine. Antonio was our tour guide accompanied by his friend (I think his name was Eduardo but could be wrong). Antonio was right on time at our hotel lobby before we ubered together to Rocinha. They both spoke great English and was very attentive to any questions that we had. The trip lasted about 3 hours as planned. Overall, excellent experience that will change you. A must-see for anybody visiting Rio who wants more than just the polished tourist experience.

Amazing experience - It was an amazing experience with my husband who is French and I presented it as a birthday gift because we were traveling Pro Brazil. He simply loved the experience and this opportunity to meet another contrast of this wonderful city he loves so much. Thank you to the Guide Antônio who made this wonderful experience even more amazing. I recommend too much and my husband loved the experience.

It was everything I hoped for. - I had Gabriela as a guide. Extremely nice, informative, helpful, funny, a great camerawoman, and an all around great person. We got out the Uber near the subway exit. You’ll ride to the top of Rocinha. Where she explains everything about the favela from the people, history, housing, and any question you have. We walked to a place where I wowed the people with my capoeira skills. We also seen a show that the school put on . They were incredible. Especially the young man with all the charisma. We left and she continued to show me the impressive ins and outs of the favela. She knew where not to take pics and where to take pics. Don’t be afraid to see the places that might scare you. It was amazing to see a favela. Not for ogling the “poor” or to even belittle the people who live there. It’s an amazing thing truly. One thing I will say: Please watch your step in the alleys. Haha but other than that. It was great all around. Obi was very great about rescheduling with me when my initial date couldn’t be met. This is a great tour and tour company. PLEASE PICK THEM IF YOU WANT A GREAT TOUR. Love and respect.

Great tour with family - Went with the family, kids age 9 and 11. Kids were little bit sceptical before the tour started, but that changed! Was a very interesting tour through the Rochina favela with our tour guide Antonio. Antonio is one of them who has taken higher education, but is still living there and doing tours in addition. Great guide! Stopped and had our lunch in the middle of the favela as well. At the end we got got the decision to walk the bigger streets with more people, traffic and shops or the “mafia” route were no pictures were allowed. We had the last one. Even with kids that was interesting as there were some people with heavy guns on that route. Strange to see.

Favela top - Very nice experience. Our guide took us through the suggestive streets of the favela, telling us about the daily life of its inhabitants. The motorbike ride to reach the top of the favela was fantastic. Highly recommended

Highly recommended! - Antonio is a great guide. Besides showing the places, he is very knowledgeable about how the life and society works in the favela, being born and raised there. I felt very safe throughout the activity. I left with a very different perspective in a good way, compared to what I thought before. I highly recommend taking this tour and get to know another side of Rio.
