Great Tour.... would recommend! - Daniel our tour guide really took care of us. He was very kind and accommodating. He knew the good places to go and got us some great pictures! We almost took our twin toddlers and I'm glad we didn't because it was not suitable for strollers (just a heads up for parents). The tour is a bit longer than 4 hours when you add in the pick up and drop off depending on where you are staying. Not an issue for us, just something to note. They were so very kind to drop us off at our hotel which I appreciated very much. The train ride was really great and we saw some amazing views of Brazil. The tour was not rushed and we even got to do a bit of shopping and local snacks. If you are considering a tour, I would definitely say take the tour with them!

A nice tram and walking... - A nice tram and walking tour of Santa Teresa, Selaron steps and a few places in Centro. We rode the tram to the end at the top and back down to the central shopping area of Santa Teresa, so it was more riding and less walking than I expected, but enjoyable. We didn't stop to see the Mansion of Ruins which I thought was included. The guide pointed out some street art, explained some history and pointed out some nice houses and views. It was all very nice, but somehow I felt that it could have covered a bit more.

Excellent Tour - Vicente was an expert guide and was so interesting. He even said that if we had any questions after the tour, we could send him a text on What’s App.

Our family experience - Beautiful walk and tour of the Santa Teresa neighborhood, Lapa and historic center of that wonderful City!
Our guide Alexia, showed us every corner and told us all about the history of this place. The excursion was very fun with her! I highly recommend it.

UPS and downs of this tour - Should include the length of the walk and the pavement surface including 215 steps without a railing. We were able to do it but others would not be able to. Did not expect transportation by Uber. Not particularly pleased by that surprise, especially when guide didn’t accompany us.

Good not great - A little underwhelmed by this tour. We spent more time in the shuttle than I was expecting for a tour advertised as a walking tour. The shuttle picked us up from our hotel and we passed by many of the attractions in the shuttle, which the guide (very nice) pointed out but didn’t provide much information on. The coolest part was taking the tram through Santa Theresa but it was a similar situation where we moved past attractions quickly without much information or history provided. Essentially the only walking was maybe a 10-minute walk to escadaria Selarón and then we were able to walk down the stairs. Then the shuttle picked us up at the bottom and took us to confeitaria Colombo and finally back to our hotels. All-in-all we covered a lot of ground in the shuttle and the views from the tram overlooking the city and different favelas were worthwhile. It was a fine tour overall, good way to get off the beaten paths of Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon.

The tour could have been... - The tour could have been better organized as far as the tram ride was concerned. There were many interesting sites visited.

Tour provided no value and was unnecessarily stressful. - I would not recommend this tour. I am giving 2 stars only because I would not have discovered who Gloria Maria was if not for this tour and that’s something interesting. The tour was today March 13, 2025.
To begin with, they told me I would be picked up at 8:28am. I was outside at 8:29am and they were sending me WhatsApp messages saying they’re going to leave me. While I can respect not waiting around, I found this unnecessarily aggressive. Twice we stopped at different hotels and no one got on so I’m wondering if they left those people behind.
We were in the van for awhile and there wasn’t a lot of explanation on where we were going or what we were doing. Almost the whole time, the guides spoke just to each other and every so often would say something super fast in English and it just sounded like she had memorized the textbook. It was difficult to understand what she was saying.
During the tour, we visited a couple of places but very little information was shared unless we asked questions. The tour guide would say things like, here is a castle, here is the cinema with no additional information - I’m not making this up. There were super cool murals and street art in Santa Theresa but she never talked about it until I asked. Even in Gloria Maria’s house, there was very little information provided. I thought there would be far more history and information shared about what an interesting neighborhood this was. Isn’t that the whole point of this tour?
The guide seemed super stressed and we were rushing through everything. I also felt very stressed because of what happened in the morning with the tour operator saying they were going to leave so I would ask what time should we meet you, what time is the van coming to which she would give vague answers. I found this very confusing given how intense they were in the morning about pickup times. We were not given any directions or told where we were going - just follow the guide.
When we got to cafe Colombo, there was no information shared. I learned more by googling about it in the van. Even the other people on the tour were annoyed. I expect a tour to share important information about the places we’re visiting. It felt more like a stressful, expensive hop on/ off bus.
I did a Tijuca National Park tour the day before that was the same price where the guide was great. That guide’s English also wasn’t perfect but when he didn’t know words or phrases, he would just ask us or act it out and we all figured it out. I didn’t come to Brazil to expect perfect English but I do expect a tour that I paid for to provide me with some value. This toor was definitely a miss.
I only did this tour because a Brazilian friend warned this area was full of pickpockets but I think I could have just worn a waist wallet with minimal reis, my credit card and phone and headed out on my own and looked up stuff on Google. I would have gotten way more out of it and I could have taken my time. Tour was not a good use of time and unnecessarily stressful.

Not a good experience - It wasn't gd Had issues with the tour operator not being able to accommodate my hotel pick up. I went to another Hotel in Copacabana Beach not near my hotel in a Uber to be picked up I arrived 10 min late because of traffic. Tour operator couldn't be contacted directly. They left at a certain time without any consideration. I would've appreciated if they took my situation into consideration.
