- Zagori Outdoor Activities - We travel to the Zagori region, nestled high in the Pindus Mountains of northern Greece. Unlike the sun-drenched Aegean shores, this area boasts lush forests instead of olive groves, and pristine alpine lakes surrounded by towering peaks. Zagori is a place where charming villages still bear the marks of Ottoman traders.
Zagori is a pristine collection of forty-eight traditional villages set in nature, nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage List. It features old bridges, streams, and beautifully preserved historical buildings and churches.
There are 2 routes available to follow (please specify your preferred route when booking):
- Aristi - We visit the traditional village of Aristi, a stunning Epirus village where Paleolithic artifacts have been found. Here, we explore “Stamatis Mansion,” a remarkable example of local architecture, and the 16th-century Monastery of Panagia Spileotisas, located in a picturesque spot near the Voidomatis river. A short walk in the forest is included.
- Mikro Papigko - Next, we head to Mikro Papingo, situated near the northern end of the Vikos Gorge within the Vikos–Aoös National Park. Surrounded by deciduous forests, the village offers breathtaking views of the Vikos Gorge, Greece’s largest, and its diverse flora. We also visit beautiful stone pools.
Free time in the village.
- Kipoi - We visit the traditional village of Kipoi, known for its numerous gardens and historic stone bridges. Once the center of Zagori, Kipoi retains the traditional Epirus architectural style with stone roads and buildings, surrounded by stone bridges.
- Monodendri - Our journey continues to Monodendri, situated at an altitude of 1,060 meters (3,480 ft). The village preserves much of its traditional stone-built architecture. In Monodendri, we visit the monastery of Agia Paraskevi, founded in 1412. Perched at the edge of the Vikos Gorge, the monastery offers spectacular panoramic views.
