Athens - Corinth - Journey with Cog Railway - Nafplio
Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - The driver will collect guests from their hotel at 9:00 AM, traveling along the mainland coast to Peloponnese. An hour later, the first stop will be at the Corinth Canal (6 km long and 80m high). The journey continues to Ancient Corinth, a city cherished by Saint Paul. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Ancient Market and the Bema of Apostle Paul or Galionas, a prominent elevated platform in the center of the Roman Forum of ancient Corinth.
Kalavrita - Upon arrival at “Diakofto,” guests will board the Cog Railway (Odontotos) connecting Kalavrita with Diakopto through Vouraikos Canyon, one of Greece’s most stunning natural sights and railway rides. It is renowned as the most beautiful train journey in the Balkans. The small train travels through streams, ascending the narrow gorge into the mountains, passing through tunnels, over waterfalls, along cliffs, and through forests of pine and oleander. The journey concludes in the town of Kalavryta.
Kastria Cave of the Lakes - The driver will meet guests to continue the tour at the mysterious and magnificent “Cave of the Lakes,” a unique natural creation. It consists of 13 small and large lakes, each with different colors due to the oxides in the rocks. Visitors will see the wonderful “hanging bridge” and the “waterfalls” that create the sensation of a floating corridor. Additionally, they will admire unusual stalactite formations. In winter, when the snow melts, the cave transforms into a subterranean river with natural waterfalls. There will be a stop for lunch at the picturesque village of Kalavrita.
Nafplio - Mycenae - Epidaurus - Olympia
Nafplio - After breakfast, guests will have time to visit either Palamidi Castle, accessible by climbing 999 steps, or take a small boat to visit “Bourtzi,” the fortress at the harbor entrance.
The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus - The tour will then proceed to Epidaurus to visit the Ancient Theatre, famous for its breathtaking acoustics, still in use today.
Archaeological Site Mycenae - Afterward, the group will return to Nafplio for an optional lunch, then head to the renowned ancient town of Mycenae and its Archaeological site, including the Lion Gate, Cyclopean Walls, Royal Palace, and the tomb of Agamemnon. The second visit will be to the Monastery of St. Stephan, from the 15th century, also built atop another huge rock, where guests will admire a small treasure of Byzantine and Christian items in the museum inside the monastery.
Thermopylae - Return to Athens, passing by the small towns of Domokos, Kamena Vourla, by the seaside, and Thermopylae, where the statue of Leonidas stands as a memorial to the battle of the 300 Spartans against thousands of Persian soldiers of the Persian Empire.
