A historical moment where my family from 100 years ago is remembered - Wow! What an amazing day. This was a surreal tour. We decided to do the green causeway tour and it was spectacular . During the tour I mentioned to the guide that my great grandmother owned a business in Cork on Barrack St. A shop called Jacks where she sold used clothing. I didn’t share anything else. So we continue the tour and on our last stop he brought us to Shalom Park. It was a Jewish park in the Jewish quarters. I stood there in awe and finally told him my family was Jewish and coming here was special. As we were chatting a man and women overheard us and began sharing that each Dec for Hanukkah there are candles lit up in Shalom Park. I decided to share with these two strangers that my great grandmother lived in Cork and operated a business called Jacks and the woman asked her surname and I said Mrs Sieff. Wait ! Wait!! And she said “0h Mrs Sieff owned a shop that sold used clothes and other items and then she said …. Jimmy was a friend of theirs and Jimmy would go by every Saturday to turn on the stove for my great grandma. I couldn’t believe it ! In that exact moment my great grandma was looking down and was saying … I’m glad you came to my home town. After that the guide took us to view the last standing Synagogue and a memory plate on the bridge for a brave women that helped rescue hundreds of Jewish children during the war. It was a spectacular tour that I’ll never forget it .

Great Way to Learn Some Cork History - Daibhidh (Davy) was a fantastic guide. He showed us sights we probably wouldn't have found on our own and made learning about them fun and interesting. The bike route, even for us "oldies" was an easy ride with a couple of inclines needing slightly more peddling. We were given plenty of instructions regarding changing of gear etc to cope! Davy answered all questions fired at him and loved his reading in Gaelic of the inscription on the stone at the University. Even on a dull day it was a morning well enjoyed. Thank you Davy.

Great way to see and learn about Cork - We booked this tour because our cruise line didn't offer a bike tour and that is our favorite way to see a city. I'm SO glad we did because this bike tour was fantastic. Our guide was informative and we saw a lot of the city without it being too hard of a ride. If you visit Cork on a cruise, it was quite easy to take the train from the port and then walk to the meeting point. Highly recommend!
