- Monumento Natural de Ajuy - A walk to the spectacular Ajuy caves, the oldest formations in the Canary Islands.
These caves are part of the basal complex of Fuerteventura, formed by the submarine flow of lava and sediment that surfaced and began forming the island 100 million years ago during the Cretaceous period.
The rocks emerged from a depth of 3,000 meters, creating the base that now supports this island and Lanzarote.
The caves hold significant geological and paleontological importance and are among the 150 sites of primary geological interest worldwide.
Visiting them is like traveling back in time to the origins of Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands.

• The walk to Ajuy caves is a prime example of nature’s wonders. Declared a Natural Monument in 1987, they are part of Betancuria Rural Park.
• It was the landing site of Jean de Béthencourt, the conqueror of the Canary Islands, in the 15th century.
- Betancuria - Free time to enjoy… Take a leisurely stroll and soak in the charm of the old village.
Visit the Santa Maria Cathedral (ticket 2€), if open, enjoy a coffee break, or indulge in some shopping!

- La Oliva - Located in the north of the island, it includes the islet of Lobos within its municipal area, making it the second-largest municipality in the Canary Islands and the second most populated on the island, after Puerto del Rosario.
It served as the island capital from 1834, replacing Betancuria, until the capital was moved to Puerto del Rosario in 1860.
- Mirador de las Peñitas - The ravine of Las Peñitas. An exceptional enclave!
A distinctive location within the protected area of the high mountains/volcanoes.
There is also a large dam built in 1937.
Here, the wonders of nature can be admired… and perhaps the local inhabitants, “the chipmunks,” might be spotted.
- Ermita de la Peña Trail - A charming little church dedicated to Fuerteventura’s patron, “the Virgin de la Peña” … The guide will share all the details.
If time allows and the church is open, a visit to the Ermita de la Peña is included…
- Vega de Rio Palmas - Known for the film Exodus and the Church of La Peña. The guide will provide all the information.
- Montaña de Tindaya - A magnificent ancient volcano.

- Molino de Tefía - The agricultural prison colony of Tefía was a concentration camp during the Franco dictatorship, located in the village of Tefía, within the municipality of Puerto del Rosario.
It operated between 1954 and 1966, serving as a place of incarceration for ordinary and political prisoners, and for the re-education of male homosexuals.
It was also the site of the first airport (1930) and the arrival of the first tourists.

- Montaña de Tindaya - The most notable monument in the village is the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Caridad, a small temple declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.
The Tindaya volcano is a Natural Monument due to its scientific geomorphological significance, as well as a cultural interest point due to its archaeological values, especially the abundance of podomorphic petroglyphs and the sacred status given by the majos, the island’s first pre-Hispanic settlers.
It also hosts some rare endemisms like Caralluma burchardii, fleshy plants resembling cacti.
3 km south of the city, at the foot of Mount Quemada, stands the monument honoring Miguel de Unamuno.
- Puerto del Rosario - The journey passes through the young capital (1862), right through the center and along the most important port in Fuerteventura.

- Monumento a Miguel de Unamuno - A beautiful statue of the famous writer from Bilbao on Mount Quemada
- Pájara - Pájara is one of the oldest towns in Fuerteventura and was an early settlement of Betancuria.
It survived the complete destruction during the Arab invasion of 1593, when all of Betancuria was reduced to dust.
The town is named after the hen pheasant, as depicted on its coat of arms.
