The island of Lobos is a small and wonderful islet of 6 square kilometers off the north coast of Fuerteventura. It is named after the many monk seals and sea lions that once lived there. This island is a prime destination for ecologists and travelers looking to explore an untouched natural environment. In 1982, it was declared a Natural Park and has been legally protected from any development since then. The small buildings you see in the El Puertito area predate this declaration.
On the islet, there are over 130 plant species and several bird species. You will also find some truly impressive landscapes such as La Concha Beach, El Puertito with its beautiful creek of small coves with crystal clear turquoise waters, the wetland of Las Lagunitas, the Martiño Lighthouse, and the 127-meter high Mountain Caldera. All these spots are connected by a 12.8 km circular footpath, which takes about 4 hours to hike in its entirety (not including the climb to Montaña Caldera). This challenging route requires proper footwear.
The trip from Corralejo takes about 15 minutes. Our tickets are always round-trip on the same day, with different times available depending on your plan. Whether you want to spend time at the beach or explore different areas of the islet, make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes (preferably closed) and apply sunscreen. Although there is a bar-restaurant, you should bring enough water and some food.
Our company is the only regular shipping service officially authorized, with all the necessary permits, authorizations, and liability insurance as required by current legislation.
