- Jacamar Naturalist Tours - The tour will begin at the hanging bridges. This adventure consists of a 3 km (2 mile) circuit trail that will allow you to enjoy the flora and fauna of the rainforest. You will cross 10 fixed and 6 hanging bridges at varying heights. The trail has a maximum incline of 7%, with no stairs. It is covered in slip-resistant concrete and has safety railings, so that you can walk easily and feel safe among the heights. Our next stop is the La Fortuna Waterfall. This will include a hike down to the base of the majestic waterfall, about a 15-minute walk. Once we reach the bottom, you can choose to take a refreshing swim or just relax and take in the natural beauty of the area. Next, we will head to “La Finquita” Restaurant for a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch. After lunch, you will have the opportunity for a bit of rest, before we begin our hike of the Arenal Volcano trails, where we cross the rainforest jungle and the solidified lava trails from the powerful eruption of 1968. You will discover a variety of plants, fauna, and amazing rock formations. At the top of the trail, we will have an amazing view of Lake Arenal.

Excellent Tour Company in La Fortuna - We had two fantastic tours with Jacamar. We did a group hanging bridges tour and a private family day where we did a safari river float, waterfall hike, lunch at their farm and a volcano hike. We also used them for airport transfers. Every experience was 5/5. Communication ahead of time was excellent. All my questions were answered thoroughly and promptly. Both our tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Everyone engaged with our kids and their grandparents. The guides had something to share with everyone. Highly recommend this company without reservation.

Jacamar is an Amazing Tour Company - My husband and I stayed at Tabacon Thermal Resort and Spa. Jacamar has a desk right in the lobby (but they go to other hotels around the area as well). We took a number of tours with them and also used Jacamar to transport us from San Jose to Tabacon. Every tour and experience we had was top notch. The drivers and tour guides were all incredible and extremely knowledgeable. They were also willing to run a group tour even when we were the only two people on the tour. On the Sunset Cruise we had the entire boat to ourselves. This wasn’t booked as a private tour but our guide told us that they don’t mix groups so that if you want a romantic experience you aren’t on a boat with young kids or people who want to have more of a party cruise vibe. We visited in the middle of the busy season, but on our biggest tour, there were about 18 people on the bus, but when we got to the suspension bridges, they divided us into 2 groups, so we were never with more than 10 people with our own guide.
I highly rushing Jacamar Tours if you are in the Arenal or La Fortuna area

Rain in the Rainforest - A fun, informative and wet day exploring the rainforest. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out so many things we would not have seen on our own. Nature at it best!

Great highlights - Very scenic and you see a wide variety of jungle views and landscapes. The tour guides teach you about the land and trees and animals. A great overview of the area

Best tour in of hanging bridges and waterfall! - The best tour ever. We did the hanging bridges and the waterfall. Our tour guide Andres was fantastic. He had so much knowledge, was kind and funny and made it just a phenomenal experience. Our kids 16, 13 and 9 also thought it was great.
We had a very good lunch at Jacamar restaurant. The tilapia was so delicious. They even did a little something special for me because it was my birthday.
The whole experience was excellent. I highly recommend this tour group. When we go back, we will definitely use Jacamar again (and request Andres Sol!)

Hiking lovers experience was fantastic - My wife and I booked the trip through our hotel hoping to see a slice of La Fortuna. It exceeded our expectations. Jose, our tour guide, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour, from plants and animals to Costa Rican history and everything in between. We couldn’t have hoped for a better guide. The hanging bridges were truly unique and give a fantastic perspective of the jungle. We were lucky enough to see monkeys, many birds, reptiles and amphibians. The waterfall was gorgeous and the water was refreshing. You will hit your stair goal here. Lunch was provided and well worth the wait. Added bonus was all types of birds around the area. Finally the volcano tour was a cool perspective on the area and how it is today. The views from the top of the hike were breathtaking. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get an overview of La Fortuna and Arenal.

Amazing Volcano, Waterfall & Hanging Bridges Tour! - We spent a day with Carlos the Jacamar tour guide visiting the Mistico hanging bridges, the Fortuna waterfall and the Arenal volcano. Carlos was fantastic. He couldn’t have been nicer and was incredibly knowledgeable about each part of the trip, helping us spot wildlife in the Mistico park, telling us about the volcano and giving us a better appreciation for the amazing rainforest and Fortuna area. We also really appreciated that he translated everything into English for us. Carlos even hiked down to the waterfall with us knowing the walk back up the stairs is very tough on your calves!! The lunch that was included was fantastic as well. We also felt very lucky to get to see the volcano!

Wonderful Full Day Experience - Wonderful full day experience! Our guide, Cindy, was AMAZING. Highly recommend requesting her if you can! She was so knowledgeable, attentive, engaging with our kids (7 & 11) and an overall joy to hang out with all day. We saw many creatures on the hanging bridges hike, most of which was well shaded. The waterfall hike is no joke… it’s 500 steps down to the base of the falls and… yes… 500 steps back up. No elevator. The water was VERY cold, but warmer a few meters down from the actual base of the falls. The traditional lunch was delicious, served in an intimate and beautiful setting on the company’s finquita (little farm). The volcano hike was more of a nature walk than a hike (no elevation change, or very little), but it was a welcome way to end the day. Highly recommend!!

Great guide, meal and transport - Kevin was an amazing guide- very engaging and knowledgeable. He was able to point out a lot of wildlife on our hikes and took great pictures for us through his scope. Transportation and the meal were excellent!
