Your tour guide will offer a complimentary 20-minute walking tour of the town. Participation is optional, but it’s a great opportunity to join the group and make new friends! • Bunratty Castle & Folk Park - Dating back to 1415 AD, this is the most complete and authentic medieval castle in Ireland. Originally a Viking trading site from 970 AD, the castle features medieval elements such as tower houses, a raised entrance door with a drawbridge over the river, a murder hole over the main doors, loopholes for bow and arrow, a basement prison with low ceilings, and secret trap doors. In 1646, during the Irish Confederate Wars, the castle was besieged. English forces led by Sir William Penn held the castle but were defeated, with Penn’s life spared by the Irish forces. His son later founded Pennsylvania in America.

The Folk Park spans 26 acres and includes rural farmhouses, village shops, and streets, all recreated and furnished to reflect their historical social standing.

Cliffs, Castles, and Guinness - Dermot was the best tour guide! 5-star man. He gave us lots of little tidbits about various Irish things throughout the tour and was super friendly! Enjoyed the music he played and jokes he told!

The O'Brien princesses give Squire McGuire (aka Dermot) 5 stars - From start to finish, this tour was a perfect excursion from the city. Our driver Dermot was knowledgeable, funny, and an impressive driver along the narrow, winding roads. We had a picture perfect weather day to visit the cliffs and the O'Brien Tower. Amazing sites! Ennis was a great stop and Bunratty Castle was breathtaking. The whole day was well planned and well timed. We learned so much and really enjoyed the trip! Dermot, thanks for putting up with the O'Brien girls sitting right behind you the whole time!

A fantastic day out - We came to Ireland expecting only to visit Dublin, but on arrival we thought it would be a good idea to see what the rest of Ireland had to offer. We chose this trip because we wanted to visit the Cliffs of Moher, the journey to the cliffs was long but we were kept entertained by the very informative Suzanne. The coach journey was seemed to take less time than it did due to the comfortable coach and excellent driving by Keith. Fortunately the fog that had accompanied most of our journey lifted by the time we reached the cliffs, which enabled us to take some photos of the stunning views on offer. On leaving the cliffs we had a bite to eat in Ennis before heading to the beautiful Bunratty Castle which was an enjoyable experience.
