Highlights
  • O’Connell Street - Your tour begins in Dublin city centre, where you will meet your guide and set out through the beautiful Boyne Valley. This is one of Ireland’s most important prehistoric areas and the surrounding landscape is dotted with ancient monuments.

  • Newgrange - Newgrange is one of Ireland’s most impressive ancient monuments in Ireland and is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the largest purpose built burial site and place of ancient worship in Ireland. The monument is built so that it is aligned with the winter solstice which was of great importance to the neolithic people in Ireland at the time.

  • Oldbridge Estate/Battle of the Boyne Visitors Centre - The Battle of the Boyne in 1690 was the deciding battle not just for the ruling class in Ireland but also in Britain and Europe. It explains the troubles of Northern Ireland and why it is celebrated each year on July 12th by the Loyalist community.
It was a battle that would eventually lead to displacement of Irish Celts and their culture throughout the Island of Ireland. It was also a battle for the Throne of England between the catholic King James II and the Protestant King of Holland (William of Orange).
You may decide to do the self Guided Tour - Pay at Entry.

  • Monasterboice Monastic Site - Mainistir Bhuithe – “ monastery of Buithe” is the 5th century monastic site founded by St Buithe.
The site includes the remains of two churches built in the 14th century and a Round Tower from the 10th century, but it is most famous for its Celtic High Crosses.
The round tower is about 28 metres tall, and is in very good condition. It was likely built shortly after 968 and damaged in a fire in 1098.
The three high crosses date from the 10th century and form part of the scriptural group (showing biblical scenes).
The 5.5-metre Muiredach’s High Cross is regarded as the finest high cross in the whole of Ireland. It features Biblical Carvings from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
It is named after an abbot, Muiredach mac Domhnaill, who died in 923.

Very interesting visit, excellent value Award. To do. - Very good visit, interesting and competent Guide. Excellent beef stew in the cafeteria. Relatively small group (20) which means that the Guide does not have to stray to make himself understood.

The whole tour was very... - The whole tour was very interesting, the locations were well selected. The guide, Mat is an Irish patriot and a good driver. He was kind, attentive, enthusiastic and very much dedicated to provide information and educate the participants about the historical background. He explained very well the tour and the locations, that we have attended. He very well managed an unexpected situation, when there were difficulties to attend Newgrange for everyone. He also well organised the tour, so we were able have a good look at all places. The lunch in Newgrange was tasteful and well provided. We liked the whole day very much.

Fantastic tour - Newgrange was an amazing experience. Kevin, our tour guide, drove us to and from the sites, but once you’re within the Knowth and Newgrange Visitir’s Center, your actual tour of these ancient sites is handled by the office of Public Works. This company handles the driving to/from these sites, and your entry ticket to them. Kevin then drove us afterward to Monasterboice, which has free admission, and took us through his own detailed tour of this beautiful area. I’d been on 3 other tours around Dublin in the days leading up to this one, but Kevin still shared lots of facts and anecdotes about Dublin that I hadn’t yet heard. I highly recommend the tour.

Newgrange - Very enlightening tour. I had no idea that the Irish had these types of structures over 5,000 years ago. Our guide did an excellent job of telling the story.

Great trip, long day (would have paid same for 1/2 day) - Really well run tours! Matt was our tour guide and bus driver. Really interesting guide with tons of knowledge. The tour at Newgrange and Knowth was amazing! The day could have ended after this tour and gone back to Dublin and I would have happily paid the same amount of money. The abbey and monastic site were interesting, too, but after lunch (and the bus seats are made for people with very short legs) I was ready to head back to Dublin. Just prepare for a long day--bring water and snacks, and prepare for a variety of weather -- we went from rain to wind to bright sun over the course of the day. Highly recommend! I just wish more companies offered half day tours.

Newgrange and Knowth were awesome! - The tour had 24 people on it, despite the website saying there would only be 16 max. The coach was small, but comfortable with USB chargers (but no wifi). The guide, Matt, was awesome -- super nice & entertaining & informative. We spent almost the entire time at Brú na Bóinne and while there we did the tours of Knowth and Newgrange, plus had time for lunch and shopping in the gift shop, as well as looking at this little displays/museum in the visitor center. The 2 sites were amazing and super interesting, lunch was fine, and the displays were pretty meh. We also stopped at Monasterboice and Mainistir Bhuithe which were cool old sites as well.
