- Dunluce Castle - Perched on a basalt outcrop along the north coast of Antrim, this castle was once the stronghold of Clan MacDonnell, serving as a medieval fortress against invaders from both land and sea.
Constructed in the 13th century, this fortification has witnessed Irish history, with touches of Viking, Christian, and British influences, and now offers visitors a glimpse of its rugged beauty against the Northern Atlantic Ocean backdrop.
The castle is steeped in haunting tales of crumbling walls and eerie ghosts. Recently, it was featured in the Game of Thrones TV series as the great Pyke, the castle and seat of House Greyjoy.
Dunluce also inspired C.S. Lewis in his descriptions of Cair Paravel in Narnia and appeared in Jackie Chan’s movie ‘The Medallion.’
Dunluce might be the first stop of the day, but it could be the most unforgettable!
- Giant’s Causeway - Discover the heart of Ireland’s ancient mythological landscape at the otherworldly Giant’s Causeway. Some claim that ‘Nature doesn’t work in straight lines,’ but they haven’t seen the Giant’s Causeway.
This area boasts over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, mostly hexagonal, with up to eight sides.
Stroll among the grand pillars of what was once an epic bridge to Scotland, built by none other than Finn McCool! Legend has it that this bridge once stretched all the way to Scotland, constructed by Finn when he wanted to challenge a fierce Scottish giant!
This breathtaking landscape appears to be crafted by a giant’s hand, yet it was entirely formed naturally by the slow cooling of lava from an eruption millions of years ago.
Recognized as one of the top 100 geological heritage sites worldwide, it’s a must-see for everyone.
- The Dark Hedges - Known as one of the most iconic roads in Ireland, this avenue, established around 1775, leads to Gracehill House.
The beech trees arch over the road, forming an atmospheric tunnel filled with the creaking of beams and dappled light filtering through the canopy above.
The Dark Hedges can be a spooky experience, as they are said to be haunted by a mysterious ghost known as The Grey Lady.
The Dark Hedges gained worldwide fame by being featured in Game of Thrones, representing the King’s Road! It’s not all fantasy here, as they were also featured in the 2017 movie Transformers: The Last Knight.
Whether it’s Autobots, ghosts, King Robert Baratheon, or just the chance to stroll down this beautiful avenue, The Dark Hedges has something for everyone.
- Titanic Belfast - After a drive through the famous Glens of Antrim, the journey continues through Belfast city to the Titanic Museum. Situated at the former Harland & Wolff Shipyard, right next to the dry dock where the RMS Titanic was built.
This museum narrates the story of the world’s most famous ship, from its inception in the minds of J. Bruce Ismay and Edward James Harland to its ill-fated maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. The museum not only tells the story of the Titanic but also of Belfast, the city that built the most renowned vessel to ever sail.
From Belfast’s rise as a shipbuilding city to the Titanic’s slow descent into the abyssal depths where the wreck still lies today, this museum immerses visitors in every step of this remarkable story.
- City Hall - For the final stop on the tour, visitors will explore Belfast city center before returning to Dublin. This area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age.
Having played a pivotal role in many aspects of Irish history, it’s hard to know where to start, so be sure to ask the guide!
Visitors will be dropped off right by Belfast City Hall, with enough time to grab some snacks for the road home or perhaps enjoy a quick pint!
Take a brief stroll around the city hall and its surroundings before returning to the coach for the journey back to Dublin.
- Dublin - The return to Dublin is around 7:30 PM, but the experience doesn’t end there! As a special bonus, every guest aged 18 and over will receive a complimentary whiskey tasting experience in the heart of the capital. Savor the rich flavors of Ireland’s finest whiskeys at your leisure—book it for the same day or any time after your tour with Finn McCools. Simply ask the guide for all the details and get ready to raise a glass to an unforgettable adventure!
