Highlights
  • Dublin - We begin with an introduction to Dublin City after which we leave the city behind and head south towards the Wicklow Mountains. Meet your fellow travelers for a great trip to the “Garden of Ireland.” As we leave the city we pass by Sugar Loaf mountain and descend through Ireland’s highest village Roundwood on your way to magnificent Glendalough.
  • Wicklow Mountains National Park - GlendaloughRenowned for its magnificent scenery and rich and varied heritage in terms of history and archaeology, Glendalough is famed for the Braveheart wedding scenes and it really is one of the most beautiful visitor sites in all of Ireland. You will have 1.5 hours to explore the deep valley with its ruined Monastic City of Celtic crosses, round towers and much more. Known as the valley of 2 lakes, we enjoy a leisurely stroll along the bank of the river, through the woods where we are greeted by babbling brooks, crystal cascades and the lakes of Glendalough. A real picture perfect moment.Travel through a real life movie setIf you are a fan of the Hollywood Blockbusters ‘PS I Love You’ and ‘Braveheart’ then join us on this tour! You will understand why Mel Gibson chose the Wicklow mountains to be the Highlands of Scotland and Glendalough to be the spot for the wedding scene. And then of course there are all the romantic scenes from ‘PS I Love You’, this is where Hilary Swank met Gerard Butler for the first time…you never know who you can meet!

Its picturesque lakes, lush forests and charming rivulets offer a visually cracking drive and a welcome escape from the metropolis.

Highly Recommended - The guide, JJ, was absolutely amazing, filling us in on history and what we were seeing. The tour itself was excellent, with wonderful things to see and do between Kilkenny and Glendalough. I highly recommend Kilkenny Castle and climbing the Viking Round Tower at St. Canice's Cathedral while you're in Kilkenny!

Beautiful scenery - Solid half day tour to get out of the city centre. Beautiful scenery. Go into this knowing you will be given 2 hours to see the scenery. If you're looking for something more involved, this is not the trip. The 37 EU's should tell you what you're getting.

Beautiful place, but the guide was well. - The tour there and the place was really beautiful. Only the company probably has staff shortages because there was only one driver who was also the guide. I would have expected a bit more information about the area and the guide actually only showed where the toilets are and briefly explained how to get to the two lakes. That’s it. I actually thought you’d converge a little more.

Nice break from the city - It was a lovely part of the countryside not too far from Dublin. So it made for a nice half day out of the city. We had an unseasonably hot day and the AC in the bus didn’t work so that was rough. But otherwise a lovely walk in the woods by a beautiful lake.

Beautiful place, needed more time. - Beautiful area, just needed more time. Our bus was stuck in deep traffic on a Sunday; check with tours that go in the morning that might be better. The area is gorgeous and we would have liked enough time to do the upper trail to the falls.

Frustrated to not be able to go on this excursion. - We were not able to go on this excursion. When we got there, the bus driver told us that he couldn’t guarantee to have us back in time to get on our ship. Even though I called earlier and question about this, I think they should inform customers that if you’re on a cruise ship do not go on this excursion. It was too late to get a refund.

Should have been credited - I unfortunately had to cancel this excursion because my ship I was on (NCL) didn’t tell me they were taking tenders to shore and this tour couldn’t guarantee that I’d be back in time to catch the last tender to my boat. Which I totally understand—but they could have credited me because of it. I didn’t know the ship was taking tenders and that upped time I needed to be back on the ship. So all in all, it would be in good taste and would be great customer service to credit me, because of the circumstances. Hence the 1 star.

Would not recommend - The scenery was lovely, but would not recommend this tour unfortunately. Our guide was from New York, and it felt like she was just reading something when sharing history or information about places along the way. Also at one point she tried to play music or an audio recording of a story, but the speakers in the back of the bus didn’t work, so we heard nothing. On the way back from the trip, there was no commentary or interaction, which was disappointing compared to other tours we took on our trip. The walk itself was pretty, but a paved and very busy path (the description sounded different than what we experienced). Overall I don’t think this was worth the time to drive to a pretty park, especially absent of any real history or storytelling along the way.
