Highlights
  • An Post General Post Office - HQ of the 1916 Rising in Dublin is our first stop on the tour

The GPO, or General Post Office, in Dublin, Ireland, was the central site of the 1916 Easter Rising, a rebellion against British rule. Led by figures like Patrick Pearse and James Connolly, Irish republicans aimed to establish an independent Irish Republic. The rebels seized key locations, including the GPO, proclaiming the Irish Republic. Despite fierce fighting, the uprising failed due to lack of public support and British military strength. The GPO’s symbolic significance endured, and the Easter Rising contributed to the eventual establishment of the Irish Free State and Republic of Ireland.

  • Trinity College Dublin - Stopping outside of Trinity College Dublin at College Green to go through some of the history of the oldest university in Ireland

Trinity College Dublin, founded in 1592, epitomizes Ireland’s academic heritage. Its historic campus boasts the illustrious Book of Kells and the awe-inspiring Long Room in the Old Library. Georgian architecture and manicured lawns offer a picturesque backdrop to centuries of scholarly pursuit. Trinity’s intellectual legacy spans diverse disciplines, attracting students and scholars worldwide. Beyond academia, it serves as a cultural nexus, hosting exhibitions and events year-round. Guided tours provide insights into its storied history and notable alumni. Trinity College Dublin stands as a timeless symbol of Ireland’s intellectual prowess, inviting visitors to explore its rich heritage and vibrant campus ambiance.

Wonderful tour and so personable - Went with family but became friends! Donal was an amazing tour guide to start our week in Dublin. He also gave us great recommendations for places to go later. During the tour he was extremely impressive with a wonderful memory to recite songs and important documents. This was a really memorable tour.

Great walking tour - Donal was an enthusiastic tour guide who gave a great narration during our walking tour. He was funny too. We appreciated his commentary and he even recited some poetry. He gave his personal opinions of pubs and other places to visit. Based on his suggestion we went to O’Neill’s pub for lunch (amazing cottage pie!) and toured the Jeanie Johnston ship (well done and interesting). I’d recommend Donal’s tour to anyone who wants an authentic walking tour of Dublin.

Excellent walking tour with history and humor - Donal gave a fantastic walking tour around Dublin. He is definitely passionate about his city and culture and has a great sense of humor too! He presented historical information in an interesting way and even better-he’s just an all around nice human being! He knows the city and shared his recommendations on pubs and restaurants as well as those to avoid. We loved his commentary and would recommend the tour to anyone! Oh and we went to O’Neill’s Pub for lunch and did a tour of the Jeanie Johnston ship. Thanks for the suggestions-both were excellent.

Six stars out of five - a brilliant tour and a fantastic tour guide - Brilliant tour - I’d give it six stars if I could. Donal is a fantastic, funny, knowledgeable tour guide who injects the right mix of history, humanity, and humour into this walking tour of Dublin. It’s clear that Donal loves Dublin and all its foibles. He has a great turn of phrase, an ear for a good joke, and 101 recommendations for great places to eat, drink, and hang out. One of the best walking tours we have ever done. Totally recommended!
