A fun evening. - We loved our night walk in Monteverde N.P. with Johnny. He was very knowledgeable, and great at spotting wildlife. There were only 7 of us in the group, so it was quite manageable. Johnny was amazingly fast at getting the animals in his scope, and was generous about taking photos using your cell phone through the scope. Of the 5 nature tours we took in Costa Rica, this was our favorite. But be sure to get there on time, or you'll be left!

Johnny was so good - we went out with him 3 times during our 2 day stay in Monteverde - while in Arenal my friend booked a tour via viator of a guided bird walk through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. After an initial mishap with regard to picking us up at the inn (the inn told him we left) we got a cab and found that Johnny waited back for us when it was to be a group tour. So we got a private tour. Johnny showed us so many things and took my phone and took many awesome pics. He knew my new iPhone better than I. He took pictures, videos, slo mo videos etc. Seen spider monkees, the beautiful resplendent quetzal, tarantulas, bees, up close pics of tadpoles, cool plants, flowers and trees. Johnny brought us back to the inn and on the way stopped at a store so I could get some pepsis as our hotel did not have them. On the way back we asked him about night tour and he and we worked out a deal to do a combo walk the next day. 1:30 bird hike at Curi Cancha(great place by the way) and a night hike at the wildlife refuge. Johnny picked us up at inn the next day and we saw the quetzal again and he got even more great pics, owls, hummingbirds, an agouti, a viper and other things. But the best part of the tour was just walking around and learning so much about Costa Rica (like it always gets dark around 6pm - doesn't stay lighter in summer, I did not know that) and just got to know Johnny and life in Monteverde in general. Later that night we met for the night hike and he found us our first sloth of trip. We were so excited. We also saw some other cool things and by the end of the second tour felt like Johnny was a new friend. If I ever get back to Monteverde will definitely seek out Johnny's guide svs. Thanks Johnny for helping to make Monteverde a very special place for us.I highly recommend his tours. Especially private - cause you get to see more and get more pics etc.

Great guide - highly recommended! - Johnny was just great. We was on time, friendly, adopted perfectly to our preferences (one small kid in the group), knew "everything", was great in explaining and finding all kinds of animals. You won't find a better guide in Monteverde!
