Great stories to hear to appreciate the Mezquita - Very informative and key to really understanding the amazing space! Angel is a great guide and spoke English very fluently. We booked this tour a few hours beforehand and we were five of the six people on the tour. No headphones needed.

Building full of history! - Magnificent building, where history can be breathed deeply. Mosque-cathedral combining Islamic and Gothic/Renaissance architecture. With its extension of 23,000 square meters it was for many years the largest mosque of the time. I highly recommend the guided tour to better understand the vicissitudes of this structure. The guide who explained the mosque-cathedral to us was really smart! Never boring, always always smiling and available to answer our further questions. Compliments!

100% recommend - thorough professional - Maria was very thoughtful and thorough in her explanation. We were just 2 family of total 5 adults. Not a big group. She explained the entire monument as if we were hovering around a museum. So much of details. She explained what was there in roman times and what was there later and how the mosque came into existence and how and why it was extended. She gave precise sqf area of the structure. She was good with numbers and the years. I liked the choir area where the wooden carving told the story of Jesus life one side and other side was Mary. The carving on wood was OMG. The entire mosque structure was such a powerful architecture way back in 7AD which is estonishing. The clever way of extending the monument way back in 9AD was explained by Maria so nicely. She also repeated what she said over and over again so that its easy for us to follow her and connect to what she would explain later. The best part of the mosque was the Qibla where the gold writing was from a mixture was crystal powder with gold powder. The details on that done back in 9AD and 10AD is WOW. Maria is very professional too. She often cut her phone calls while giving us the tour. Also, she treated my children very well. without second though I would recommend her. After the tour she allowed us to stay back and absorb the historical details she provided.
One thing is VERY important to note - There is a tower of church but actually there is a mosque minarets under it even to this day. Once has to climb inside the tower to go in and check the minaretes. Maria asked us to check it out later on our own after the tour. When we went at 330pm the ticket for the tower for that entire day was sold out. That being weekday Tuesday. So make a note this is one of the MOST visited monument in Spain so better book everything possible in advance not to miss out on something important. That was not Maria's fault though. Just for other future travellers its a note.

Outstanding monument - Must See - For the first time visitor of mosque (the cathedral was rebuilt on the fundament of 10th century Moorish masque) it was very impressive moment to see completely different style of architecture. Massive improvised and asymmetrical columns create a great new look at the medieval design of this cathedral! Highly recommend!

Cordoba is essential part of a trip to Spain. It is a must see, if you love history, amazing architecture & great food! - Cordoba has always been on my list of things that I must do. I wasn’t wrong. I was able to arrive on Sunday on the fast train from Madrid Atocha station in less than 2 hours. I stayed at the Amistad, a great small hotel in the old Jewish quarter of the City. Don’t miss the Mezquita, the Roman Bridge & generally wandering in the old part of the City. Don’t plan on visiting major sites on Monday as a lot of them are closed. Definitely worth the effort!
