- It’s recommended you bring:
- Sunscreen, please do not use aerosol sunscreen as it turns the seat cushions and gel coat orange and kills the coral reefs!
- spare change of clothes in case you feel like hitting happy hour after the boat trip
- sunglasses, hat and long sleeve loose fit rash guard to protect yourself from the sun
- towel or “quick dry” towel (aka… sham wow) to dry off after you exit the water

Directions: The small square parking lot immediately across from Morgans Mango and Margarita Phil’s is the best place to unload guests and gear. There are a number of free and pay to park areas throughout Cruz Bay.

Excellent way to spend the day! Highly recommend! - Excellent day out with captain Andrew! Explained we wanted to snorkel places not accessible by land and were taken to 6 amazing snorkel spots! We saw squid, lobsters, spiny starfish, sting rays, beautiful coral, and a variety of fish and a sunken boat. Stopped at Pizza Pi for amazing pizza on the water which was a lot of fun and delicious! Captain Andrew was engaging and helped us with grabbing our snorkel gear as we got back on the boat. A really great day!!

Trip Highlight! - Captain Andrew was the best! He took us to so many great snorkel spots and showed us the best of the best of St. John. We asked to go places that you couldn’t get to from the beach and he delivered! We went to Pizza Pi for lunch and it was awesome. Not too long of a stop, which was perfect. Highly recommend booking Island Roots on your next trip to St. John, you won’t regret it!

Wonderful day with Ivan - An absolutely wonderful day charter around all of the Virgin Islands. Our tour guide Ivan was so knowledgeable and professional. He was an incredible captain and taught us so much about the history of the virgin islands! We had a breath-taking day on the water stopping at The Baths, Soggy Dollar and so so much more. Thank you to Ivan for an incredible experience we will never forget.

Fabulous time with Max and Island Roots! - This was our second year chartering a BVI trip with Island Roots and Captain Max, and we’ll be back with them next year. Max gave us great recommendations for breakfast on Jost at Christine’s Bakery while he took care of all the customs details. Then we were off to Sandy Spit, Willie Ts and Soggy Dollar Bar. Max is a terrific captain and, as a bonus, just a chill, super fun guy to share your day in the BVIs with. We’ll absolutely request him as our captain when we book our Island Roots charter next year. Thanks to Island Roots and Max for a fabulous day!

The best experience! We loved Captain Max!! - We had the privilege to do 2 boat charters with Island Roots during our stay in the VI's. One day we did USVI and the other day we did an Extended Day for BVI's. We cannot say enough amazing things about this company and our captain Max. We had him both days we went out and he was nothing short of fantastic! He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and fun! He gave great suggestions, showed us some of the most beautiful places, and listened to our wants as well. This was by far the best experience I have had with any boat charter in my past. I would recommend Island Roots and Captain Max to anyone! We will absolutely be back to enjoy another charter soon!

Day 1 tour of St John - Lime Out was awesome! Day 2 full day in BVI. Completely awesome!! - We had the pleasure and privilege of booking with Island Roots twice during our visit to St John. Captain Max was absolutely awesome in every way. He mapped out 2 perfect days for us!! Perfect 10's in every category for Island Roots!! We can't wait to book again -- the BEST in the VI's!!

Wonderful time with Captain Andrew - Perfect! Captain Andrew was amazing! Figured out the needs of our group immediately and did everything to meet them from music to stops at various beaches and bays and everything in between. Professional, educational, safety conscious and fun! Took us to some great spots along north shores of St. Thomas and St. John due to weather issues and floating restaurants being closed on south shores. Had a blast and will definitely try to sail with him again ! Thanks for a wonderful day!!

Great day cruises with knowledgeable captains. - 2nd time booking with Island Roots. Super professional and very knowledgeable captains. First trip was to BVIs in July 2023, this time boating around St John in late January 2024. Different captains but both knew a lot about the geography, history, fish we'd see, etc. Considered the weather, wind etc. and brought us to snorkeling spots we would not normally be able to reach. Very special. Would not book with anyone else.

Amazing Sites - Great Captain and Tons of Fun! - We did the extended day BVI trip with Island Roots, Captain Ryan! We had an amazing day - and we got to see it ALL and then some! Our group was ages 20-73 - and by far everyones favorite day! Ended with the best sunset. I would highly recommend enjoying all the BVI and Island Roots has to offer for a day of vacation!

St John’s via Island Roots - amazing - The day was amazing and our captain, Ivan, made it even better. We saw all of St. John’s and swam with the turtles, snorkeled and had lunch at lime out. Ivan’s info on the history of the islands as well as his knowledge of the beaches was great. We highly recommend.
